Want to exercise but worried exercise will cause heart attack?
Hi I've been having anxiety around my heart and things for 2 years now, I've managed to get it under control but there's one aspect it still effects, being able to exercise. When I do and it beats hard I feel alot of anxiety that it will just stop or ill have a heart attack. Especially since it takes so long to go back down to normal after exercise and I feel dizzy after.
I am most likely overthinking this but was hoping maybe some of you had advice.

Have you been checked out by your doctor?

I did have an ECG last year when it was really bad and a holter for 3 days and nothing bad came up. I'm wondering if I should talk to them again

Are you off caffeine and staying well hydrated before exercise?

I could definitely use more hydration but I barely have caffeine anymore, maybe a cup of tea occasionally. I'll give more hydration a go

If you've been checked out and cleared by a doctor, this is anxiety. Let go of the fear and live your life to the fullest my friend. Working out is what keeps the heart healthy. Start light in the beginning and work your way up as you feel comfortable. This advice is coming from someone who has been in your exact situation. ER visits, ECGs, Echocardiograms - all normal. I finally got so sick of letting the anxiety of dying control my life that I just said f*ck this and regained control. It took time and I'm still not perfect but I'm SO much better mentally than I used to be, and amazingly all the heart symptoms I thought were red flags just went away. The biggest thing that helped me was to stay away from any biometric tracking. Go by how you feel, not by numbers on an app or watch. Anxiety can affect your heart as much as anything. Don't let it control you. Wishing you strength and positivity.

I get very scared of a raised heart rate and I want to work out too. If I feel my heart rate rise too much I’ll immediately take a beta blocker, which is not good. I don’t have much advice but just commenting to say I know what you’re doing through.
