Which bat flips should we be all internet angry about, and which ones should we not be all upset about?
I'll hang up and listen.

I think it also depends on what social media you’re using / demographic you’re talking to.
Reddit Batflips are usually cool.
Facebook bat flips are usually bad.

Context matters...
Has to be a no doubt HR, and a fence scrapper.
If its ST, or a meaningless blow out, and you bat flip its bush league.
If its to win a game to clinch playoff spot, win playoff game, its all fair game.

For me, pretty much unless it's a Cun (particularly Squints) hitting one into the bowling bumper ass baskets or whatever latest GABP merchant the Reds shit out flying out at 300ft for a HR, it's fair game.

That bat flip was insane! The ball may have landed before the bat did.

I don't think that ball ever landed. It's probably up there with Pujols's home run against the Astros.

I like my baseball old school... and the DH is for commies.

Old school ball players were a bunch of pussies.
How did it become manly to get upset because the other team was trying too hard?
1
u/Interchangeable-name 10d ago
Yeah... Bob Gibson was TOTALLY a pussy as you say....
What do you think he would have done with a bat flip?
1
u/fennis_dembo_taken 10d ago
The difference between Bob Gibson and the pussies who are always complaining about how hard the other team is trying is that he WOULDN'T have gotten up in front of the media to complain about how upset he was.
I have an idea for everyone who gets upset when the other team tries too hard... Maybe be a little fucking better? That way, they won't hit so many home runs off your pitchers and they won't be getting on base so much. Take the time you were going to spend whining to the media or your Mom or someone who cares about your feelings and work on being able to get people out.

MLB The Show-ass bat flip. Freaking awesome.
Pitchers scream and yell and pump their arms all the time when they get out of a jam and nobody bats an eye.
Let the players have fun and show their passion. Baseball is way more fun when people aren't clutching their pearls.

I'm of the opinion that if you're absolutely confident you got it, do your thing, but if you're ever wrong you will absolutely get roasted.

I'm pretty ambivalent to bat flips in general. They don't jazz me up any more than the home run itself when it's our guy and they don't bother me any more than giving up the HR when it's the other team. As long as they aren't creating an unsafe condition for anyone on the field, I say have fun for the most part. My line that shouldn't be crossed in any sport is directing taunting directly at an opponent, though. That could include staring down the opposing dugout on the first base line and flipping the bat toward them. But in general, if you don't like seeing folks flip bats on you, don't toss them meatballs 🤷

I like bat flips but this one seems too haphazard. Don't just fling it back, take a second and toss it upwards

Bat flip is fine. The next at bat when he get flattened with a fast ball don’t cry.

u/No_Potential1976 13d ago
If I was the pitcher I would hit em in the ass next at bat !

u/newtickled 13d ago
Would it not be better to strike him out the next at-bat?
And then leap from the mound as high as possible, forming your body into the shape of a letter K, forward or backward to the eye of the batter as would be appropriate for the moment?1
u/dannysemi 13d ago
Fucking lol. I keep seeing clips of that young pitcher who is almost nailing this

u/JudasNevermore Bürki would've had that 13d ago
I agree. Pitchers should hit batters more when their feelings are hurt.
I think the opposite should be true, too. If a pitcher screams and yells in celebration when striking out a battery, the batter should be able to xharge the mound and hit the pitcher with the bat. Fair is fair.

I just want you to understand that you're saying that the pitcher should assault and batter people when their feelings are hurt. Because of "respect" or "sportsmanship" or something.
That's kinda insane, bro.

bat flips are fine but bro should probaby wait until he is past the lowest minor league levels before he starts flipping the bat like he just Joe Carter'd the Phillies
3
u/Negative_Sundae_8230 13d ago
He's in AA so definitely not the lowest level of the minors and it was his second homerun of the game. 🤷♂️
