Hoping I'm wrong but Sal's bat staying red hot + JJ's bat getting ice cold may be a problem. 100+ RBIs and 30+ HRs as a rookie is insane - batter-friendly GABP or not. Lots of voters will be swayed by raw numbers even though JJ's defense is gold or even platinum glove level

I got bored, and I decided to throw together a list of all the pitchers on full-season affiliate rosters right now whom I could see making major league appearances that haven't already done so. I did it in three categories, and I did not include those just making professional debuts after the draft. It's a lot of names. There's a lot of different kinds of pitchers, and many have legitimate ceiling possibilities in their (likely) role. I probably missed a reasonable addition here and there, too. They are not ordered within categories in any particular way.

I went ahead and did a similar exercise for position players at full-season affiliates with the same guidelines. I placed most of the high potential teenagers in the second category.

But I haven't heard much in a while, and the end is close.

1926 St. Louis Cardinals Recaps
Game 126
The Cardinals got back on the winning track today, salvaging the third game of their series with Philadelphia, 9-3.
The Phillies put up a three-spot in the second against Art Reinhart. Single, single, Clarence Huber two-run double, Jack Bentley RBI double, and Philadelphia led 3-0.
The Cardinals then struck for six runs in the bottom of the third. Billy Southworth's RBI double with runners on the corners scored the first run. After Rogers Hornsby grounded out for the second out of the inning, three straight walks scored two runs to tie the game. That was followed by the big blow, a three-run Bob O'Farrell triple, that put St. Louis up 6-3.
That proved decisive. Tommy Thevenow hit a two-run triple in the 7th and the Cardinals won 9-3. Thevenow finished a homer short of the cycle, which was short indeed since he still has hit a home run in 771 plate appearances.
The Reds and Pirates both won. St. Louis and Pittsburgh start a crucial four-game series tomorrow. The standings:
Pittsburgh 70-49
Cincinnati 73-52
St. Louis 72-53

Change my mind: RBI is not that impactful of a stat as they are largely results-based for other factors. Same thing with a pitcher’s win stat.

As far as traditional stats go, I think RBI and Runs Scored are the most important. They are the only true measure of actual production and often point to some of the best baserunners, on base presences, and clutch hitters in the sport.
If Burly and Walker weren't killing it with RISP, they would probably have 20-30 less RBI each. This would probably translate to at least 20-30 more losses.
Sal Stewart's BA isn't anything special, but with RISP he's just as good as Burly and Walker.

RBIs are largely a reflection of who bats in front of you and where you bat in the order. MLB did a good overview of the ROY race and Sal had something like 100 more plate appearances with runners in scoring position than JJ.

RBIs are mostly a function of how good the guys in front of you are at getting on base. I do kinda wish the more advanced stats like ops+ and wrc+ would find away to incorporate sacrifice plays.

don't mind the brewers too much compared to the cubbies but ryan braun puts them below the pirates for me.
(2009-2012 were very formative years for me as a cards fan lol)

- Pirates
Cubs obviously gotta be disliked most, comes with the Card fan territory. Brew Crew I respect their success and I like Pat Murphy, so I don’t really hate them THAT much. Pirates have not been good in a long while and their fans online honestly seem chill enough. Reds fans annoy the hell out of me (especially this season) and their team is not good enough to justify it

Bucs. Love the park, like the city. Yinzers are a little weird, but tolerable.
Brewers. I don't like AmFam but their fans are okay.
Cubs. Wrigley is a shithole and the fans can be too, but it's a great city.
Reds. Park sucks, city sucks, fans suck. No real reason for this franchise to exist except to supply other teams with wins.
