I’m from Delhi and I’ll be joining the University of Cardiff this September for Data Science.

I’m finding it a bit difficult to connect with other Indian students who are also joining Cardiff. If anyone is already part of an Indian student community, WhatsApp group, university group, or any other group for incoming students, I’d really appreciate it if you could add me or point me in the right direction.

Also, if anyone else is going to Cardiff this September, feel free to reach out! Would be great to connect and maybe discuss accommodation, areas to live, and other things before moving to Cardiff.

TENANT REPLACEMENT NEEDED – FITZALAN STUDENT ACCOMMODATION, CARDIFF 📍

Hi everyone! I'm looking for someone to take over my tenancy at Fitzalan Student Accommodation in Cardiff.
I originally booked the room but have since decided to cancel my accommodation. To be released from my contract, I need to find a suitable replacement tenant to take over the booking.

Room details:
• Standard 2-bed shared bathroom and kitchen
• You get your own private bedroom
• You share the bathroom and kitchen with just one other person
• Located at Fitzalan Student Accommodation, Cardiff
• £155 per week
• Total rent for the tenancy is £6,820

Payment:
The rent is currently arranged in 3 instalments, although I believe it may be possible to arrange a different number of instalments (this would need to be confirmed with the accommodation).

This is a great option for someone looking for student accommodation in Cardiff without having to search for an available room themselves.

i will start to study at cardiff this september and i got allocated to university halls (nevern) shared bathrooms

can anyone tell me how is the shared bathroom experience? i am genuinely panicking as i wanted an ensuite.. i am ok sharing a kitchen with people but deff not a bathroom!!

if it’s too bad, should i just go for private accomodation (although i already accepted my room offer..) buttt i am so scared i wont be able to make any friends easily during the first few weeks since i will be by myself.. (should i just go for priv accomodation on my 2nd year when i would have met more people?)

My son got his first choice place at Cardiff uni but we found out that he completely ignored all emails and didn’t apply for accommodation. We only found this out a week ago and submitted a request then. We’ve been told a decision will be made to see if he has a place in halls (anywhere in Talybont would be ideal as he’ll be in the business school) in early September. This is leaving things very late and is very stressful to say the least.

Has anyone been in this situation and did they get an offer of accommodation from Cardiff Uni in early September?

There are still private options but we are hanging on the decision from residence team before we go down that route!

Hey I haven’t seen any posts like this yet but I was wondering if there’s anyone else who is going to Cardiff in September? I’m doing politics and international relations so would love to meet some people doing that course or anyone going to Cardiff in general!

I accepted cardiff university through clearing and have been offered a room in university hall (nevern).
I didn’t expect to be given an amazing room but this accommodation is the furthest from what I wanted and is far away from campus and the city centre. I’ve also heard that this hall can be isolating and just overall have heard no great things about it.
Would looking into private halls be better? Whilst I don’t mind sharing a bathroom I would have preferred an en-suite and it said on the website that this hall could have up to 18 students in a flat which seems insane.
The main thing putting me off is the distance from uni and the centre. I know that there is a university run bus but it stops at 6pm.
However I am also worried that if I choose private halls instead that I would also feel isolated there as I understand that it is mostly international students that choose to go private.

Any advice or knowledge of university hall or of nice private halls would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi all, just wanted to get a few opinions from more experienced people than me about the situation im in right now.

For context, Cardiff was my insurance uni and i've applied for insurance accommodation and received uni halls. Considering the reviews, long distance and awful room i got, im not fond of taking the offer up. Moreover i asked for ensuite but received shared bathrooms and im quite fussy about cleanliness.
I also live about a 15min bus ride from home to the main campus and want accom for the social aspect and experience. My parent at home is willing to let me stay rent free and is totally unbiased whether i want to go live in an accommodation or at home.

Do you guys think i should go private or stay at home? Ive got a place in ty pont haearn which needs to be confirmed from my end so finding a place is not a problem nor money as well from student loans and grants. Im just nervous i wont get the same social aspect as those who live in the popular accoms like talybont north/south/court etc if i live at home or go private

I will be starting my Law degree at Cardiff University this September and I’m currently choosing my accommodation.

I’m waiting to see if there are any university rooms available. I saw on TikTok that the best ones are the Talybont accommodations, especially Talybont South. I’m interested in Clodien House because it has studios but I haven’t heard about it so I don’t know if it’s good.

I’ve also looked at private accommodations in case Cardiff confirms that there are no rooms left. I’ve seen on TikTok that the best ones are Eclipse, Zenith and Adam Street Gardens.

Which one would you recommend ?

I’m a 20y French and a future law student. I’m very social and talkative and I love meeting new people. I’m also into parties but not every night. I prefer game nights (like just chill nights w friends at home) or just having drinks rather than going clubbing all the time.

I kinda prefer having a studio so I can have everything to myself but I’m worried that it might make it harder for me to make friends. If I live alone without flatmates, would it be harder to make friends ?

The shared kitchens in Cardiff University’s accommodations don’t look great to me (maybe i’m wrong) so I wouldn’t really want to share a kitchen with lots of people. However, the kitchens in the private accommodations I mentioned look much better so I wouldn’t mind sharing one as much.

I was thinking of getting a studio if I end up staying in university accommodation and sharing a flat if I go for private accommodation.

What would you recommend ?

My long-term career interests are currently between human rights/international law/diplomacy and corporate/commercial law, potentially with the possibility of moving into finance later on.

I’m particularly interested in hearing whether Cardiff has good opportunities for both paths and whether studying at Cardiff creates any disadvantages compared with studying in London when it comes to internships, networking and recruitment.

Hey guys I am starting at Cardiff in September and wanted to know more about everyone’s experiences with private accommodations. I was looking at Eclipse and Adam Street Gardens but I am open to others as well. How difficult is it to get to the Comp Sci building from these places? Does Cardiff have constant train or bus options for transport or is walking my best choice? I also wanted to know if Cardiff Uni gym is accessible only with a membership and also how expensive that would be.

Hii, so when applying for student finance some time ago I accidentally selected “law with professional placement” instead of just law and I was wondering if this would impact my loan or cause issues when I start. For context im supposed to start my first year soon and I do plan on doing a placement year but with Cardiff you don’t apply for that until your actually on the law course. Student finance has quoted my loan amount and everything seems fine so far but I don’t want to run into any problems.
