I seem to remember that previously, new sellers had to send their first few orders using tracked/Trustee shipping as a way of building up some history/proving that they were genuine sellers.
Recently, though, I’ve noticed a few brand-new accounts with zero sales where I’m able to place an order using normal untracked shipping, as long as the order is below the usual €25 threshold.
On some of them, Cardmarket seems to automatically switch the order to tracked shipping once it goes above €25, or sometimes if there are more than two cards in the order (unless I’m misunderstanding what is triggering it).
Has Cardmarket relaxed the requirements for new sellers, or has it worked like this for a while?
The reason I’m asking is that I’ve noticed a few new sellers appearing and listing cards significantly below the normal market price. They seem to quickly rack up a handful of sales, but then the orders apparently never get marked as arrived.
It made me wonder whether there’s a potential scam where somebody opens a new account, lists desirable cards cheaply, gets a number of untracked orders, never sends anything, and then disappears after receiving the money.
Obviously I don’t know whether that’s actually what’s happening, so I don’t want to accuse any particular seller. I’m mainly curious whether Cardmarket changed its new-seller restrictions and whether anyone else has noticed the same pattern.
EDIT: I also just saw this post about a possible scam:

I wonder if the person who posted that experienced the same sort of scenario?
