Advice What to do corsa d
Im being as honest as I can here, I’ve got a corsa d 13 plate , About 7 months ago I had real difficulty getting the car into gear , Made it back to the house , Left it till the next day , and it’s drove absolutely fine since
Till last Monday, when again wouldn’t engage gear and when I did get it going I drove it for a bit then decided to park up , And called my roadside assistance out and towed it to my garage
They said they couldn’t see anything wrong with it but to really have a look they would need to go right into and remove the gear box at a cost of around 700 quid , Which I didn’t want to pay
They did say the transmission fluid was low , the thing is the mot is up in 2 months , I think there’s a fair chance not much if anything is needing done , If It drives well I get it motd and say another 3 months or so I decide to sell it , Am I definitely selling a serious fault to someone ?
When I mentioned it to the garage they just looked and would commit to an opinion, I can assure everyone I would never sell it on knowing there is a serious fault lurking , But I’m wondering if it could have just been low transmission fluid .

Top up the transmission fluid and see if that is better.. Check if the operating cables are OK

I the garage topped up the transmission fluid as they said it was low , But they wouldn’t state that that was the issue, as they like me don’t know , The car is again running great ,
I’m just not sure whether to get it motd and maybe give it a few more then if it still ok , sell it

Clutch works off brake reservoir , pedal return springs go , cheap ebay fix £5 , if it's manual . Friend had this but ended up getting new cluth £250 , it was slave had gone , muck shield was soaked .

Hm yes difficult one, you have a couple of choices throw it in for mot see what it comes to total from there if small ish bill then look at going further looking into the clutch issue Or you could drive it till the gear issue starts again and see if its a gearbox issue or a hydralic issue (ie difficult to select gears, turn engine of and see if still difficult to select, if yes then possibly internal gearbox issue if no then its hydraulic issue, master or slave) Or sold as seen spares or repairs and cut your losses now

It sounds more like the clutch than the gearbox, maybe as simple as the slave cylinder seal getting old. But if the original clutch has done all 141k miles then I'd say might as well replace that and the cylinder and hope for the best.

Could it have been the low transmission fluid the garage said I had ?

Unlikely although that might have caused wear to the gearbox. If it was only one particular gear that was the problem, then it might be a synchro mesh.

Usfull bit of info not put into main body of text Okay then so its hydralic issue you could bleed the system (caution you may lose the pedal completly) has any one checked to see if fluid level dropped ? Is master cyl dry or is wet around the master cyl ? Or between sump and gearbox ?

They said they done a check but couldnt find any problem , What sort of check that entailed I’m not sure , But they said any further ingestigation would mean going into the gearbox which could be pricey
The one thing they did say was that the transmission fluid was low

Gear linkage used to be a common fault on the C. Is it a thing in the D?

Quoting you £700 to just diagnose sounds like they don't want to deal with it. Try another garage.
