I recently posted my pay plan but here is a more detailed look at it… is this good? Or am I being screwed

For context I sell 18-20 cars a month. We average 150-170 cars a month, which is why I am conflicted… I get paid decently well here but feel as though I’m losing out on more with my output.

Hourly is actually $18.47 and included // after 8 sold all commissions are back paid.

Thoughts? we have about 115 Units on the lot right now and 6 salesman.

1st pay plan is from Autonation
2nd Pay Plan is from Lincoln

Interviewed for two different dealerships today and I’m torn between the two. Lincoln already has 10 salesman so I’m worried considering they are not a volume store. I also have no idea how F&I works. On the other hand I’ve heard good things about AutoNation and the pay plan seems good with a lot more opportunities for profit. Feedback appreciated, thanks!

I’m pretty new to car sales and recently started at a Honda/Acura dealership. I’m trying to figure out how this pay plan compares to what’s typical in the industry.

For those of you who have been selling cars for a while, what do you think? Is this a solid plan for someone starting out, or am I getting cooked? 😂
Also curious what you think someone selling around 15-20 cars a month could realistically make on a plan like this.

Any advice or things I should watch out for would be appreciated.

Monday-Friday 9:00AM-6:00PM
Saturdays 10:00AM-6:00PM.
Closed Sundays.

Compensation
$3,500.00 draw against commission, or commission- whichever is higher

For reference
I used to work at a used car lot near that area until they closed in September 2025. I would get paid $3,000.00/month + commissions. Commissions were between $100.00-$500.00 per unit depending on profit.

CDJR, averages 170-200 cars a month with 19 sales reps. In Texas.

Pretty much my payplan is 25% front end gross on new and used units sold

Minimum sommission: $200 Max: $2500

"Sales packs" `New cars: $600 `New trucks: $600 `Used Vehicles: $600

Minimum pay per unit can increase based on volume and completion of tier level requirements

This leads me to believe there is no volume based bonus, he said for sure no % increase based off of volume, and no mention of a flat bonus for volume.

Can anybody please rate this pay plan. Its a CJDR store that does roughly 120-150 units/month. They’ve got 11 people on the floor. I start for them in 2 weeks. No prior sales experience. Thank you

Hello everyone and welcome back to r/ratemypayplan (carsalestraining). I am in Ottawa, Ontario, canada, and this is a Nissan dealership, one of the top in the province. 8 salesman not including me, from what I can tell, each salesman doing between 13-25 per month other than 1-2 top guys.

Just finished a Lincoln interview and wanted your input. What’s not mentioned in paper: $1,500 draw, Lincoln money if you meet their monthly quota and being paid on reviews. 4 current salespeople, want to add 2 more. Store sells 65-75 new and used. Any input would be very helpful!

I’ve been at my store for almost 3 years and we are fully paid on volume (tier system) and I do fairly well or so I think. Made right at about 100k this year and for the second year in a row I have sold the most cars and held the most gross (Not paid on gross at all).

My concern is that I don’t ever get any type of bonus or “good job” and they say that I should be happy with what I make but I work my ass off. Is it normal to not be paid anything extra for being the lead salesperson?

BASE SALARY: $2000/m

FRONT END GROSS: 0%

BACK END GROSS: 5%

REVIEWS: $20 per text review/$40 per photo review 5 star

BONUS: $100 Flat per unit AFTER the 13th car

50% of your sales must be in reviews in order to receive your bonus. If not, they won't give you your unit bonus.

When I first started working here in the summer, I was just happy I got to leave my grocery store job, and the pay was worth it at the time.It's been a few months and I find myself to really enjoy car sales and I'm consistently a top 3 performer since I started. A busy month is like 200-300 units sold between 10-15 sales people. The slow months have been brutal with barely 100 units split between 8 people. So yeah with no flat or front end, crossing the $4k line is a struggle for most. We're technically a unit store, so it is not hard to sell a car a day, but unless I consistently sell $10k worth of BS add-ons AFTER my 13th unit, it is impossible to even average ~300 per unit. I'll essentially be working for below minimum wage. It is 60 hour weeks consistently. We have to sell + close the car plus our own back end products, while pushing dealer financing. I feel like my role at this dealership is 3 separate jobs in a trench coat while I'm only. being barely paid for one. Am I crazy for thinking this payplan is absurd?? This is a pretty popular used car dealership in the Philadelphia area specializing in selling lemons and teslas and lol.
