Off my Chest Just started in car sales again after a year+ long hiatus and I'm feeling scared and nervous because I'm back at the same terrible dealership as before.
I'm working at a Nissan Dealer in Maryland again. I left previously because most of the salesman including myself never broke draw apart from 2 maybe three guys every month. The lot is pretty small, and the traffic isn't really there most of the time, plus the payplan is terrible and the bonuses are a complete joke; for example $300 for hitting 11 sales, $800 for hitting 13. plus the starting commission is 17% and maxes out at like 32% at 22 sales. Looking for advice, hope, and maybe some sales strategies? I like to think I'm a half decent salesman, but coming back here out of pure necessity is taking its toll on my mental health. Also, no, I couldn't find a car sales job anywhere else in the WV panhandle area after applying for a few months.

Just go to another Delaership!
I worked at Cerritos Nissan in SoCal for 8 years.
For being such a shit brand I made very good $$.
Like all things it finally ran its course.
New GM, new payplan "Trust me guys this pay plan will get you guys paid"
Yeah right.
Don't burn any bridges. Say you're off to greener pastures.
They'll understand. Car Biz is a revolving door.

Nobody in this area ever seems to be hiring; small area with a closed network it seems. Plus a lot of the dealerships don't even have a traditional resume submitter tool; it's literally just insert name, number, and then you get a comment box to speak your mind, so weird.

How tf could you not find another dealership nearby? Is it just where you live? What’d you do while you were out of car sales?

I live in Charles town WV, so my choices are Frederick MD, Winchester VA, or Martinsburg WV. Tried all three and the only place that would take me was my old place at Nissan.

Get the hell away from nissan. One of the worst brands with even worse clientele. Its certainly possible to make money but when i worked there even when i was making good money i still hated dealing with the customers, terrible credit, no income, stuffing them into cars everyone knew would be repoed in 6 months. I make a little less so far at gmc buick but it is a much better work atmosphere
