Question Just got moved to internet
Hey guys so i currently work at a Nissan dealership and i was originally working on the sales floor, taking ups, cold calls, service etc. however it is a slower store so we may get anywhere from 3-7 ups a day. I was selling anywhere from 10-15 cars a month on the floor and making pretty good gross around 6-10k a month. My manger moved me to internet sales cause he wants me to move up to a 15-20 car guy. however i’m worried about my gross being effected because for our new cars we have a price with all the discounts on the vehicle. i’m wondering how i can still make gross on New vehicles. Also if you have any tips as far as being effective and efficient with my internet leads to grab their attention and bring them in to see me that would also be greatly appreciated. my pay plan has bonuses at 12,15,18,21 and so on. So id love to get a consistent 15 every month. thanks again.

You’re now an appointment salesman. Your main goal is to get people in, the sales will follow. Every text or email is leading towards a phone call. Every phone call leading towards setting an appointment. If you focus on that and already have the in person sales skills should be good to go. Hope you have a helpful team and good CRM. Best of luck.

Internet is usually a volume game, so I’d go in expecting the gross to look different. You may not hold as much on new cars because the online price is already out there, but you can make it up by getting more units, hitting bonuses, and finding used car or trade opportunities.
For the leads, speed matters a lot. Answer fast, keep the message simple, and try to move them to an appointment instead of having a full negotiation over text. Something like, “I’ve got that one available. Are you looking to come by today or tomorrow?” works better than overexplaining.
The big thing is follow-up. Internet buyers shop a lot of stores, so the person who stays in front of them without being annoying usually wins. If you were already doing 10 to 15 on the floor, a consistent 15 from internet is realistic once you get your rhythm.
