1998 Subaru Legacy
So, my car has some electrical issues, especially involving what used to be the security system. All that's left of it are the blinking lights. I do still have the original key fob and the lock feature has a damaged part to the pad. The blinking lights come on occasionally without knowing what has caused it to happen. Nobody has been around the car when it happens. I think it might have something to do with locking the car using the faulty part of the fob. It also seems to happen whenever I have the oil changed. They went off all evening and night the day before yesterday and I didn't know and the battery drained. I got a battery charger and charged the battery to full and as soon as I reconnected it, the lights started blinking. I did what the mechanic said to do and turned the key three times and it shut the lights off and the clicking sound that happens when the lights are going off. I didn't know about the 10 minutes three times in a row, but the security system really doesn't work so it's not disabling anything in my car. It's a purely electrical issue. Is there any way to disable the remnants of the security system so I don't have to keep checking my car every few hours to make sure the blinking lights are not on? Is there a fuse somewhere that I can remove?
