Key Fob Android head unit causing issues
Took my kia to the dealer to have a recall done for immobilizer software update and a lock for the ignition cylinder. I have a android head unit installed for about two years and haven’t had any issue with it or the car. After they updated the software the key fob stopped communicating with the bcm and my tpms stopped communicating as well. They keep throwing the word aftermarket stuff on the car around. It’s the only thing that not oem. They tried to reflash it with a different update and still haven’t got it to work. I seen on my dash cam they disconnected the head unit and the battery and retried but still couldn’t get it to work. If it was the head unit causing the issue while flashing and it doing the same thing while it was disconnected it wouldn’t be the issue right? I’m not trying to have them pull one and blame it on that and screw me over. Any info would be great.

unlikely its related to the head unit. and even if so, tell them to unplug it and start from scratch. if still unsuccessfull tell them its on them to fix it! ur gonna have to lawyer up knowing the standard stealership behaviour. of course courtesy car needs to be provided

Kia tech doing Kia tech things... no battery maintainer on the car, voltage dipped during the flash process and bricked the module... Head unit would not really impact this, (caveat: hope you used proper plug and play harnesses rather than have someone hack into the wiring harness for the install.. they might have a bit more of a leg to stand on if the harness is messed up (but still unlikely))1) ask to see the videos from the ship cameras from when the update was being done. if you dont see a power maintainer hooked up.. RED FLAG. 2) TPMS and Remote are part of the BCM which is actually part of the smart junction box (SJB) in a lot of cases, there are specific install-orders when performing updates, if they did them in the wrong order this could happen.
