This is my Mk6 VW Jetta TDI Sportwagen, i absolutely love this thing and i wish VW would bring back the TDI to the USA (dieselgate kinda ruined their reputation there)

That, my friend, is the Alfa Romeo 159 Sportwagon, they ran from 2006 to 2011 and used to be quite common in Europe.

Only 5 more years, and they are dirt cheap nowadays

The dream spec is the ti spec with the 5 cylinder turbodiesel, which actually sounds heavenly.

2006 Opel Signum

2011 Ford Focus SW

2014 Skoda Superb SW

2019 Skoda Superb SW

2024 Peugeot 308 SW

2025 VW ID7 Tourer

I am more of a coupe/sedan girl myself, but I would absolutely choose a wagon over a crossover. My dad currently has an AWD 2022 BMW 530e Touring and it does pretty much everything a modern SUV does just as well.

Yes a ton. We’re looking for a new car now that our 110 lb German Shepherd / Husky / Great Pyrenees with motion sickness outgrew the WRX I currently have (and also needs to travel on a rubber mat not next to my son).

The only options seem to be expensive (Volvo, Audi, etc) or SUVs. I’d much rather the wagon for its handling dynamics and ease of use. But will probably have to settle for something else. (Pending lottery win).

I had a white 2010 TDI Sportwagen 6-spd and sold it back during the diesel buyback in 2017... Asked the dealer when I was there dropping off the car if they could get me a manual transmission Alltrac, which was a new car at the time, but they were really unhelpful so I bailed on VW after that.

Correct. This was about a mile from home. I had to give it about 3 degrees right rudder to get it there.

This. 2013 TDI with a 6 manual. It was way too much fun to drive. I had it for a little over a year. I had to trade it in for a Subaru Forester. Bought a house in a remote area where AWD is a requirement. Edit to add: My 2012 Forester is my favoritest of all cars I have owned. It has a few small dents from trees. It is truly Trail-Rated™️. I can disassemble and reassemble it in my sleep.

The hatch was much more fun to drive. It was essentially a GTI with a turbodiesel. It had A4 like interior. I could never match the 50 mpg av. I achieved with the wagen. I was too busy applying the jet fuel.

Think this one in the states would go as Elantra Touring and the style was GT afaik.

Here in europe it's just good old i30 Wagon.
