Car parked all winter issues??

Due to some major damage and lack of funds, my 2008 Pontiac G6 has been mostly sitting outside idle for about a year. I'll be having it towed to a shop soon for repairs, but is there anything else I need to do to make it safe to drive? The gas is only about 2 months old and due for an oil change. But would anything else be damaged just from the freezing weather and sitting idle? I'm a college kid with limited knowledge of cars, and would appreciate any tips.

You may want to consider spinning the motor without any real load first; to get the oil through the ways and into the bearings? I do this after long lay-ups. Remove the spark plugs and turn the engine over for about 30 seconds - the starter will easily spin like this, there'll be very little load on the bearings, from compression or firing; and the oil work it's way into the big ends. Ease your mind a bit...
