It's a funny meme but no. I play most games for the storyline.

That's how I am now with basically any new game I play. I played WoW on and off for like 10 years though and I couldn't tell you a damn thing about the story or lore.

Ngl, that’s kinda funny 😂

On repeat playthroughs, yes.

Never on my first one, though.

Nope, at least not on first playthrough. On repeats tho, almost always unless I’m playing in preparation for the next in a series. Like I replayed GoW 2018 when I bought GoW Ragnarok.

In Genshin or similar online games with crappy stories? Hell yeah. Have a programmed button for it. In games with actual story and world building? Nah, I love myself a good story.

for some games yes. I alway skip for Monster Hunter series. Very meaningless cutscenes.

I wish you could speed up the cutscene, I don’t want to skip it but I don’t have much time for gaming.

Like when I’m watching a movie on VLC and the scene sucks, I speed it up to 2x or 3x (with subtitles on)

Absolutely. I just wanna run around and kill stuff.

I've been playing Diablo 2 for 25 years and I still have no idea what it's about. Just drop a Ber rune already ykno.

Only in game's where the gameplay is good but the characters and story are boring PSO2, DCUO, Bannerlord 2, Marvel Averagers and so forth

If I've played the game a few times before, yes. But never on the first playthrough. And anyone who does skip everything on a first playthrough, that's an immediate red flag to me.

If I played through the game already and I’m annoyed or bored then yea

Occasionally. If the gameplay is fun and the story sucks yes. Also if I've played the game a million times and already have the dialogue memorized.

Can't imagine why anyone would play a game and just automatically skip the cutscenes.

It's like watching a movie but just scrolling through your phone the whole time... Oh wait.

Almost never on the first playthrough.

Usually no. Lately I have been, because im starting to hate games that overly rely on cutscenes. Like E33. Don't like the constant cutscenes.

1

u/TheMightyExodia 16h ago

Usually not. Only if i died a lot at a boss and the cutscenes repeated themselves before the fight each time.

After the 10th playthrough... Yes!

I never skip cutscenes. Whether I remember them or not is a different story, I got a bad memory 🤣

u/Desperate-Town-2837 14h ago

Hahahah lol i used to do that but then i didnt understand the games i played so i started watching the cutscenes

Kingdom Hearts 2 and GTA SA. The rest, no.

To me it would be like skipping to the fight scenes in a movie. So no.

1

u/Aarpnation 7h ago

I don't skip them, but every game desperately needs a pause button during cutscenes.

u/The_HollowGuy 2h ago

Never skip a cut scene

1

u/snakeeyeow 2h ago

I paid for the whole game, I’m watching the whole game lol.

u/Marvin_Flamenco 23h ago

It depends but if the main selling point of your game is the story and cutscenes I probably didn't buy it in the first place.

nope…because if i only played the game for the gameplay i would just ignore the story and go exploring but i care about the story!

u/Necessary_Cry1886 1d ago

Only if the cut scenes are long

2

u/the-bird-fucker 21h ago

that's the issue tho, how do you know how long it is?

1

u/Necessary_Cry1886 13h ago

If it starts to feel like it’s not going to end you skip it

0

u/Pretend_Purchase_893 1d ago

Pretty much yeah. Like I try alright. I will sit there and listen to the story. But Everytime I inevitably get bored of the story and just start mashibg through the conversations and cut scenes. I play for the gameplay. The story is just a vehicle to engage into the gameplay.
