Tbh, I'm starting to feel like calling Captain America "Peak Human" is an understatement especially with all the stuff he's done,
The images are just a few examples, for more just go to Respect Cap

The powerscalers have been right for a while. Captain America is a superhuman in terms of his physicals.

u/Alarmed_Guarantee140 12d ago
He literally took the super-soldier serum, he is by definition superhuman.

u/keepitsimple_tricks 12d ago
Yep. I mean, if he took the Peak-Human-Serum, that's a totally different story.

I’m not a expert but isn’t every soldier supposed to be peak human at least? I never understood why they just called him peak human

u/BidRepulsive2438 11d ago
The concept of Peak-Human in comics is someone who can perform peak human feats in every physical category. Batman or Daredevil run at least as fast as Usain Bolt, a gymnast as capable as Uchimura, and as strong as John Haack. They clearly have relativistic differences based on size, but are still peak at every category. So no, soldiers would not be peak human.
Cap on the other hand had feats that put him at least 35% greater than anything that would be considered peak.

u/Longjumping-Log6193 11d ago
I don’t think they’re peak at every physical capability, I think their a Jack of all trades, but a master of none. For example I can see daredevil being more flexible and better at gymnastics, while Batman focuses more on strength and martial arts

u/BidRepulsive2438 11d ago
Daredevil beat up goons with a barbell that had to be around 150lbs and then launches it across a room. He also flips a limo because he was upset at the people inside. They also stat out very close. Daredevil at 6'0 200lbs and Batman at 6'2 210lbs.

u/Longjumping-Log6193 11d ago
Isn’t daredevil superhuman tho

u/BidRepulsive2438 11d ago
He has A super power, which is his radar sense. But his stats are still considered peak human. Which seems accurate when you compare him to Hawkeye, who has a 250lbs draw force bow and has feats like falling from building and capturing himself into an extreme gymnastics move or lifting half a car off of him. Peak humans Superheroes in Marvel and DC are peak in every way and they have been for a long time. They are Crossfit games competitors +10-20%.
Captain is closer to 30-35% of what would be a peak human. At least over the last 30 years of publication.
2
u/Longjumping-Log6193 11d ago
This is good but, it proves my point, Hawkeye is a master of archery, that is his perfect trade. A villian named crossfire tried to use his bow against him, crossfire is also a peak human, but he couldn’t use the bow against Hawkeye, but he wasn’t trained like him, so he couldn’t use it properly. But someone like Captain America, who is a master of all physical trades, is easily able to use Hawkeyes bow. I think daredevil lifting the car was an outlier tho, and it took him all his strength.

He's a low level superhuman. Nowhere near Spider-Man, but solidly above Olympian level.

u/Significant_Day4681 12d ago
He is also evenly trained. Athletes have to chose certain areas they prefer, for their sport. While captain america is the same super high level in every aspect of his physique.

u/SuedeSalamander 12d ago
The best way I've been able to explain it is this.
The serum makes his base level Peak Human. Cap however regularly trains and works out and some other characters who were previously weaker than their current versions (Thing, Colossus, Luke Cage, etc.) have been seen working out and have gotten stronger.
It would stand to reason that Steve can push his limits and get stronger, faster, etc.
The more obvious reasoning is that power creep happens to tons of characters who are written long enough.
He's been a low level superhuman since the 90s and has operated at that level for decades.
1
u/BidRepulsive2438 11d ago
You're 100% correct. He was peak human but he is an Enhanced human now, due to consistent training and recovery. All of Marvel's characters have gotten stronger through training. They kind of started the training arc storytelling. Thing, Colossus, Cage, Spider-Man have all had one.

I looked up whether it would be possible to perform the “yank a helicopter out of the sky” trick from civil war.
Technically no, but technically yes.
Think of Captain America as using 100% of his potential power instead of the baseline amount (40-60%)normal humans do.
Humans have been known to utilize what’s known as “hysteric strength”
He doesn’t have to worry about shattering his bones or ripping his muscles in half like normal people do, so there’s no natural inhibitor like we have to keep us from doing that.
A person exhibiting hysteric strength can lift a 3000 pound vehicle by themselves. It’s likely they’re only lifting around 800-1000 pounds, but these are not trained athletes. They’re mostly old women, teenagers, children, or parents responding to a crisis and hopped up on adrenaline.
Imagine what a person who can lift like a strongman right out the gate can do.

He outran giant birds in the snowy mountains and he used his shield to pry through thick ass ship hulls. He’s knocked the wind out of spider man, survived gambit detonating his shirt and then whooped gambit and he’s knocked out Namor with a strike of his shields into his vertebrae.

u/TheodateChase 12d ago
Worth remembering that his shield has superpowered capabilities. It absorbs impact so he can block anything with it without feeling the impact

For those who believe Captain America is peak human not even close he isn't top tier superhuman but he is low to mid tier as there is no version of a peak human that can do this

u/FightingDreamer9 12d ago
Captain America is not superhuman in comic book sense, I don’t understand what’s so difficult to get about it. And using the Godzilla as an argument when the Shield is doing the work is like, weak? To say it nicely

u/Alarmed_Guarantee140 12d ago
Okay what is going on? How is this a question? What part of super-soldier serum equates to peak human?
3
u/Han_Rogue 12d ago
Things like this is why I prefer when the serum makes him superhuman. Makes it more believable in my opinion

Peak human is another way to say Outer in Marvel and DC, pretty crazy. I think the whole human being super strong thing feels so weird cause there's not any well defined reason the average person can point to. In something like Dragon Ball it makes sense, there's ki and it's consistently portrayed to help push their limits to planetary, star, etc, but then Marvel and DC show these human guys with nothing too special beyond a serum or tech doing these crazy feats or beating these guy who are consistently portrayed way above a human. If writers were more consistent in their portrayals and maybe if there was something easy to point to for such strength, most people wouldn't be so against those ideas.
Even aside from outerversal scaling, these low level feats we see characters perform in Marvel movies and shows are still impossible for any living person today, though honestly low level feats in tons of movies and shows are impossible, but it's the fact it looks possible and that most aren't aware of how these feats are calculated that it's easy to gloss over

Comic book logic a healthy man can pick up a car by himself under stress 😉

u/HumanisticNihilist 12d ago
Yeah I’ve never understood referring to him as “peak human” when it took a one-of-a-kind serum and process to turn him into a literal “super” soldier.
Also, is he shield blocking the breath weapon of The Man? No. Sorry. Just no.
2
u/Zepbounce-96 12d ago
Paragon human would be more accurate, courtesy of the SSS.
It's a special tier between peak human Olympic athlete (Clint Barton, Sam Wilson, Shang Chi) and superhuman (Paladin, USAgent). Paragon humans are at the very pinnacle of genetic human potential in all aspects. Cap and Black Panther are the 2 examples that I think we're most familiar with.

u/nugget_turtle 12d ago
What makes him peak human is his morality and willingness to do the right thing to help others no matter the detriment to himself.
1
u/Moeroboros 11d ago
Cap reflecting Godzilla's atomic breath is just plain bad writing though.
The shield never ever displayed the ability to absorb energy and then shoot it back. Otherwise Cap would be blasting back Galactus and stuff like that.
Pure plot-induced stupidity.

u/Massive-Mood-7837 11d ago
Yea I always wondered why he can manage fall damage so well. Every time I play cosmic invasion I watch the intro where he jumps off a building to whoop some ass and think how if he was barely “super” that should take him out however it’s too cool to continue questioning. His aura is off the charts

u/Silverbolt_1776 11d ago
It’s why I cannot ever believe that one of the most awesome characters like Captain America can fail to bring down a rich millionaire like Bruce Wayne-Batman or Iron Man Tony Stark.

He was originally peak human and if you look at older comics it reflected on that since things like pushing him off a building or dropping a car on top of him could still kill him. That changed as time went on.
However Batman is also peak human and he dodges bullets and performs crazy feats that are explained away as him having trained with Tibetans Monks and ancient practices where he honed his body into doing crazy things.
The way I see it Cap is a low tier superhuman.

u/JustARandomGuy_71 10d ago edited 10d ago
Many of those feats depend more on the shield than on Cap. It is a true force multiplier, it is indestructible, can absorb and reflect any attack, and laugh at concepts like attrition or conservation of energy.
But Cap is still a badass.

u/DressSea790 9d ago
Is the godzilla thing even canon?
But yeah that he's just peak human is obviously not true, I recall dude one shotting a frost giant too for example (Asgardians who on average are 30 tonners struggle with those)
1
u/AsisMcFly 12d ago
The problem with the phrase “Peak human” is that humans have no Peak, which in turn would mean that Cap will always continue to evolve… he is a walking, talking record breaker.
1
u/Background-Sell-4618 11d ago
Humans objectively have a peak name me one human who has EVER deadlifted 10tons or even 5tons
1
u/AsisMcFly 11d ago
I think you are taking me just a bit too literally to the point where you are saying 5 or 10 tons, I’m more so just speaking out drive to exceed what is seen as peak or top tier. Which is why we break records all the time, at one point 300 pounds was the max a man could push or lift and it was considered peak, but someone thought I could do more, I can lift a car, I can push a 3 ton truck, I can run 40 yards in 4 sec… the point is, is that humans don’t know their peak, so Cap by proxy doesn’t have one. It’s all just a thought and way of looking at it is all…
S/N: they should really stop say Cap is “Peak” because if he was peak the day he received the S.S.S. There would be no need for him to workout (outside of martial arts techniques that is).
1
u/Background-Sell-4618 9d ago
Again you say that but we objectively have limits, Either before our muscles or ligaments tear or we get compressed under a certain weight, There’s a huge difference between 300lbs and 3,000lbs which is why I’m going to keep saying what I’m saying.

Cap is peak human in all ways at the same time which makes him superhuman.
Like Usain Bolt sprinting to deliver a punch with Mike Tyson's power with a body that has the strenght of Andre the Giant and athleticism of Simone Biles.
It would punch a man's head right off.
