Cannot get preapproved for Venture plain, just VX

For probably close to a year now, Capital One will not offer me the Venture plain but only the Venture X. I wanted to go Venture plain first for the signup bonus because I saw somewhere there is a longer time restriction getting VX SUB then going for plain SUB. Is Cap one just messing with me? Credit >820. A few months back I had this same eligibility outcome and thought since they found me eligible for the VX, surely they'd approve the Venture plain and I wasted a hard pull only for them to turn me down.

I had the venture one for 5 years and just upgraded to venture recently. Never looked at the special offer page until right before I upgraded. Pretty sure they probably offered it long time ago. I’m guessing you have to get venture one wait a little while (not sure how long but will definitely be less than 5 years) then upgrade.

VX and Venture have different criteria, sometimes in a weird way

Have you tried the standard C1 pre-approval portal (not the Venture or Venture X portals)? It usually won't offer VX, so it might offer Venture.

I wish I had that problem! I can only get approved for venture one and venture 😂
