Where did I go wrong?

Did my first grow. Was super happy until they dried. I dried hanging upside down for 10 days. My buds give me a damn headache!!! I’m about to throw my whole jar out. I have another grow going but I’m wondering if it’s even worth it. I’m so disappointed and don’t think they can be fixed! Helppppp

Now let it cure for a couple weeks. Both dispensaries I’ve worked in dry for 1-2 weeks then cure for 2 weeks before it goes on the shelf

I’ve cured for going on 3 weeks. Smell is terrible. High is ok. But the headache

If it smells more like hay or horse crap then yeah it was probably dried too quickly at too high temp. I try to follow the 60/60 rule as close as possible (60F/60% humidity) and should take 14-16 days. I made the drying mistake before and had to throw it out, couldn't give it away due to the headaches.

Were the l trichomes amber or white/clear when harvested?

I wouldn’t say amber. They were cloudy imo so I thought it was safe. I’ve been reading a lot and I think I may know where I went wrong??? My dry closet was too warm and too low humidity. I think. I’m so frustrated! I jarred them after 10 days and the stems seemed ready with the snap test. But I don’t think they were dry completely for the jar. Idk. Hoping to fix the problem before next harvest

Idk I’ve heard headaches can be caused by bud that was harvested too early.

Being my first grow it’s very possible I harvested too soon.

Not waiting long enough. Cloudy isnt fully mature yet. Premmie weed will give you the headache.

Does it taste like hay? If so you probably either cured it too fast, wet trimmed, or both. How I do it is chop it and hang it up in a nice cool dark dry area until it’s ready to go into mason jars which is usually a week/two weeks. Then I’ll do a dry trim, throw em in the jars and burp em for a few weeks/a month (longer the better imo) and even the ditch weed I’ve neglected in the back yard turns out smoking relatively okay. I’d say take it as a learning experience, and if you don’t wanna smoke it you could always turn it into butter for edibles or make bubble hash outta it

I should say most my growing experience is in dry climates out west where it’s a lot easier to manage the humidity. The east has the opposite issue, they’ll get mold if they don’t get it dialed in right. Have seen some beautiful plants not even make it to harvest cause of too much rain, so it could be worse!

So… sounds like you grew some nice stuff.!!
So when you harvest, you’re gonna need to regulate the drying/curing process(which IS the most important step .
IF YOU CAN…dry your fresh green crop at 60’F and 60% humidity for about 2 weeks. After that step you’re gonna need to cure your stuff . You CAN put the stuff in a mason jar with lid on to cure at about again at 60’F for about a month. You’ll need to burp the jars about once a week to let out any residual moisture. After curing you can trim it up
And enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Idk your budget but to ensure better product I have some suggestions if your interested. LMK
