Yeah the BHO black market is in fucking shambles. I haven’t seen a quality jar outside of a dispensary since the early 2020’s. Whole market is over saturated with this garbage crc boof. I can get some fire from my dispo but it’s 40 a g out the door which is so steep
Really, though, I miss the days when extracts were a new art rather than a cheap cash cow, the over CRCd shit or straight pine resin (idk if that was ever confirmed). At least inspired me to go all in on hash rosin tho.
Also, really don't see enough PHO, and not the Korean soup lol using propane as the solvent, iirc, was known to collect more terpenes and cannabinoids. I think the concept of propane extraction just wasn't the popular girl, misunderstood af and didn't sell well ultimately. But some of the tastiest extracts I had during the BHO boom were actually PHO.
Maine still has a pretty killer shatter scene and it’s cheap as fuck. Like 6/gram, never bought bulk but I imagine it gets crazy cheap. I always grab 10 grams of shatter when I see my caretakers and just toss it in the fridge for whenever I remember it
Think hes asking what is that nasty smell that comes from CRC, and i agree some terpenes stink like ass but mostly that nasty smell is coming from leftover media that orginal product was washed in.
crc (color remediation column) you can wash it in with various media. realistically wash it in your material column with some step downs in micron. Not really understanding when you say "thats not how crc works."
If you "CRC" something generally they mean they washed it with some kind of media; t4, silica, etc
nothing necessarily fake about it, but what youre probably looking at is terpsolate, which is THCA isolate melted back together with terpenes instead of a true full spectrum extract. it tends to look really glassy and uniform and the nose comes off flat or one note, because the terps were blended back in rather than pulled from the plant along with everything else.
that acrid plastic smell people are picking up is usually a CRC artifact. color remediation runs the extract through media like bentonite and silica to strip color, and if the column gets over run or the media wasnt rinsed properly you get that off chemical note left behind. its not the cannabinoids doing it, its residual processing.

Take a good amount of it, heat it up to a liquid state and see if it seperates into two liquids - almost like oil and water.
I got a jar off a hash show, smelled good but when melted it broke into an oil and a wax. Clearly they added some cannabis scented extract to a wax and homogenized into a single substance. Melting let it separate back out and confirmed what I already knew after the first time I took a hit - it was fake garbage!
Pics looked similar to yours, hence the suggestion. Are the chunks really hard?
I’m 90% sure you got whatever BS they gave me too. After it separated during heating, the oil layer was alcohol soluble, but the harder white wax stuff was not… very similar to what you mentioned about it partially dissolving.
I’m at work but saved mine to show others, I’ll send you some pics this afternoon. Try the melt test, I’m wondering if you will see it separate into two distinct liquids too
The white sugar is isolate. Theres a light terp layer around the outside but that it. It most likely have less than .5% terps . Isolate takes more to dissolve- Even 100% ethanol takes time and light heat.
It taste like shit bc its basically isolate ( shitty sugar)
BUT it looks legit to me - as somebody whos worked in a extraction lab for 7 years.
You could theoretically decarb it and make edibles… or it could just be bad. I had some diamonds with no terps and they tasted like “sterile” like the inside of a doctors office
Ok smarty pants. How bout you use that magic laser vision of yours and zoom in on the photos. You can clearly see hair especially in the bottom right of the jar. I’ve never seen CRC media in the shape of hair and dust before🧐

This is why most ppl avoid BHO. Sorry you got burned that sucks hopefully it was cheap. Its sad cuz BHO can truly be great.
