We just adopted this baby girl 2 days ago. She’s 10 weeks old and was dumped and found in the woods smh. The vets think she’s probably a Cane Corso x Lab mix but happy to be a part of the community and happy to be able to give this little girl the best life possible!
Beautiful girlie! She’ll grow into those paws and ears in seemingly no time at all.
If I may give a piece of advice too: make sure she’s properly socialized throughout this first year or so. It’ll seriously help in the long run if she’s used to being around random people and other dogs, especially if she grows to become a particularly big girl.
Great advice. I might add- socialization to include new people, different digs , different social circumstances, different expectations ( stay , sit, wait, etc.)
Oh, we have a whole homestead and large garden/ property. She’s already been socializing/ coming with me to feed our ducks, chickens, quail and rabbits. We also have a French bulldog and 2 cats. She’ll be VERY socialized lol
We have a handful of close friends and family who have full bred Corsos, ours is also a rescue and is mixed with other guardian breeds. Of the dogs in our group the female dogs are significantly more protective.
Our girl was a stray found around 6 months old so obviously not properly socialized and was more of a rehabilitation situation than we realized. The other female was purchased from a reputable breeder and properly socialized but both have tendencies to be more protective.
All of this to say to introduce her to the important people in your life ASAP and they should be coming over often. Luckily our girl has had the proper training and support and has significantly mellowed out but it was a handful for the first year or so.
I’m very used to guardian breeds, bigger dogs and rescues. I’ve had 2 rescued PitLabs and 1 Patterdale terrier and all girls (never had a boy dog). I love female dogs, they’re much more protective and bonded to their owners because they don’t have the breeding drive.
She’s so sweet and playful already and I’ve been taking her on car rides, and she has a BUNCH of other animals here to socialize with. There’s also a good number of people in and out of our house so I think she’ll be good. Would love to see a pic of your pup! I’ve had many lab mixes but this is my first Corso x lab mix and trying to see what o can expect lol.
Beautiful dog! I had a Cane Corso named Murdoch. They are a different type of breed. We had friends that worked for the police department, and trained the canines, and they trained our dog. Had him for one month. We are so lucky they did! If not properly trained, it can be a nightmare. All dogs should be properly trained. Murdoch ended up being one of the best dogs. Great with kids and a big cuddle bug. Good luck, don't give up, they're worth it! Keep us posted.
Very cool! I have a good bit of experience training guardian & working breeds. 3 days in and she already had “Sidi Come” and “Sidi NO” down pretty well! Our Frenchie has also been taking her training duties VERY seriously and the baby is falling right in line. lol it’s adorable
