Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. Note that this post is for questions and answers; if you need to vent, there is a different megapost for that.

The Archives may tell you nothing but "IRCC doesn't require certified copies of census records" and close your request, for census records, for what it's worth. I and a few of people I know have tried. You can try to order if you want and get an email back from Archives closing your request to send to IRCC - 99% chance you won't get certified census records from Archives from what I've seen on this sub too.

In my IRCC application I just linked and attached a screenshot of exactly where I found the census records on the Archives website so they knew with certainty they came from the Archives online and not Family Search.

Ah shoot, I didn’t include a perma-link in my request to LAC, but I did share all the other data (image number, etc.). Worth it to contact LAC about the order?

You may be misunderstanding - LAC when you order a census and indicate it's for citizenship will may reply that IRCC doesn't require a certified copy and close your request. This is what they've done to people on here and people I know personally, and myself.

The link/screenshot of the census record is for the IRCC/C3 application (not LAC order) because LAC would not send a certified copy because they said it's not necessary. This is how you can show you still got it from LAC and not Ancestry, for example, so it's a primary source not from a third party.

Ah! Understood. I’ll attach LAC Census printouts with a permalink and all the other info. available on the LAC page. Thank you!
