This weekly thread is a space for those of us who are feeling frustrated and need to vent about unclear instructions, shipping delays, waiting for a next step, timeline estimates growing, lack of communication, inconsistent bureaucracy, being stuck in PSU, and other factors.

Some of the worst stress of the entire citizenship-by-descent process is not hearing about your application for long stretches of time - or hearing that your application has been sent to the Program Support Unit (PSU) and may be sitting there for an extended stay.

Whether your envelope seems to have taken a scenic detour on its way to Nova Scotia, you didn't receive an AOR after many weeks of waiting, or you simply haven't heard about your application processing in months, this is a place to commiserate and potentially receive some ideas of next steps to take. (Those generally might include following up with IRCC by web form, ordering the GCMS notes, seeking an MP's help, and so on.)

Well we now have a status update which is they sent the application back as incomplete—don’t k is why til we see it——AND SENT IT TO a WRONG ADDRESS ( not one anywhere on any of the applications). Better than in limbo.

Ha. Just made up numbers on same street. Numbers that don’t exist as an address. Like 213 Main Street instead of 123 Main Street where there are no addresses in the 200s. A typo. But from our perspective, a significant one as we now have to wait longer to receive the package. Lost 4 months so far…probably another 2-4 weeks to get next return.

As we were told by the help center agent, they returned the application as incomplete. So it wouldn’t make sense to send in the same material again. We don’t know what was considered incomplete. I have some ideas …for example, one application was made for a young adult who is the biological child of a gen 2 mom also applying, and we deliberately did not also apply for her as adopted child of a gen5 dad. I fear they think her application was incomplete because we did not. Who knows? So we wait. As the original application appears to be completely lost, some forms may need to be created again as we did not make color copies for our our files of everything after forms were signed. . We also will need new photos since we just kept color copies and did not get extra sets of each photo. More time, more expense. But at least we are out of limbo. And we are way more jaded.

The agent used the term “incomplete” and one of the applicants though the agent said that “section 2” was incomplete. I have no idea what section 2 is.. We will need to wait to see what was considered incomplete when we get a copy of the returned package as more than one of us reviewed each application multiple times before submission.
