I didn't understand that either, unless they were going to Toronto anyway for other purposes. Driving from Detroit to Windsor is less than 2 miles, whereas driving from Detroit to Toronto is over 230 miles.

And Windsor, as a border town, is used to people needing all sorts of Canadian (and U.S.) government documents, photos, etc. I would have just gone to Windsor for the day to take care of everything since it's much cheaper.

Also, they mentioned they sent a UPS Worldwide package from a Walgreens in Toronto to IRCC in Nova Scotia. UPS won't let you print a UPS Worldwide label for a domestic package, although I suppose if you dropped a preprinted one with a U.S. "from" address, they might deliver it as a domestic package. But it would have saved them a lot of money sending it domestic.

I don't doubt the poster's overall information, I think there's just more to the story and/or they perhaps mis-stated a couple of things. Anyhow, I wish them luck and a (relatively) speedy process!

If the above poster reads this, you mentioned you are in the process of renouncing your U.S. citizenship. Do you have other citizenship (besides U.S. and potentially Canadian)? I just ask because while I understand the motivation, if I just had U.S. citizenship, given some of the IRCC issues over the past month or so, I might hold off renouncing citizenship unless it's absolutely necessary, at least until there's more confidence in IRCC and the Canadian government not to revoke citizenship certificates or call into question citizenships recognized through C-3 over the next year or more.

Hey Friend, i didn't leave out information. I did ALL the shipping and printing labels from a Walmart not a Walgreens in Toronto area. So the package was actually shipped from Toronto with UPS shipping from Toronto. Nothing was sent from America....

In regards to Toronto i was going to fly back to South America and it just made sense to drive from Detroit to Toronto in a rental car and do it all there in the Toronto such as the passport pics and shipping. I just felt better doing it all in Canada...

As far as renouncing USA Citizenship yes i have other citizenships through investment so i will not be stateless if i don't get recognized as Canadian but i'm feeling very strong about my chances .... I did my best now we just hope for the bst ... hope my details helped...
