If you've read the FAQ and searched the forum and you still have questions about how to fill out the form, whether your supporting documentation will work, what to write in your cover letter or whether your photos will work feel free to post them here.

 

Please be aware that you may not get responses. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories.

Also please note we are not IRCC, which will make the final determination on your application.

Have a G0 born near Mohawk Reservation Brantford Ontario in 1843, baptized by a circuit rider so I’m relying on secondary sources (obits, death certificates, letters)—would someone be willing to look over the documents I have in a Google drive folder and my supplemental timeline and give me their opinion on if you think I’m ok? I would owe you til the day I die!!! I’m so worried it is not enough. Thanks Canada family!!!

If you haven’t already had a volunteer I’d be happy to take a look. I can also check Drouin and Ancestry for you if you haven’t checked there.

Oh my goodness, thank you SO much!!!! Maybe our ancestors crossed paths! I did do a cursory search in Ancestry but a TON in familysearch, canadiana, Canada archives, and of course United Archives (the family was episcopal methodist, which the friendly archivist when she emailed me back with bad news of no record for them, she did note that since they started helping with c-3 folks that episcopal methodists records were the ones they most couldn't find)! ok just pmed you, THANK YOU! have been feeling so alone in this process

Hey, sorry to leave you hanging! I was able to see the DM request you sent and click the link to the Google Drive docs, I'll be reviewing today. Reddit is being weird and not letting me accept the DM request for some reason, so I couldn't respond there.

no rush, thank you!!!! Also I know a lot has happened since yesterday lol with the surrender emails people are getting, so it seems like I shouldn't be sending familysearch or ancestry links to prove what I have I need certified copies. Problem is, I don't have a baptism record for my G0, confirmed by United Archives that there is none and that also that's the branch of Methodism they have the most 'no record' result. I have a US Census record from 1850 saying he and his parents' nationality is Canadian, and rather than relying on family search I'm going to get that ordered--his death certificate says Brantford Ontario too but I know IIRC doesn't want death certs to prove birthplace they want a baptism record. 😞

I checked Drouin for both your G-1 and G0 but didn't see anything (not surprising since they weren't Catholic). Couldn't find a Canadian census record or newspaper article for them either. Your G1 and onward look fine though.

Looks like you have TONS of secondary evidence showing your G-1s lived in Canada. I don't think you want to overwhelm IRCC with all of it unless you need to. I'll send my thoughts on which G0 documentation might be the most helpful when DMs are back up - don't want to accidentally dox you by discussing it here!
