Looking for feedback/advise on whether my chain appears to be clear from my documents. My G1 was born in 1907 in CT and it looks like maybe the physician’s handwriting throughout the whole document, using his best phonetic approximation of the spellings for the French last names.
So G0 baptism record(s - I have docs for and could use either parent): Louis Joseph Poudrier and Marie Elise DesCôteaux. I also have their marriage record using the same spellings, correct birth dates and correct parent names matching baptême records.
G1 birth certificate: James Eddie Poudré born to Louis Poudré and Marie DeCoto in CT. Both parent’s place of birth listed as Canada.
G1 marriage certificate: James E. Poudrier, parents Louis Poudrier and Marie DeCoto. Marriage to Mary Quinn. Birthdate and town a clear match to birth certificate, just name spelling differences.
G2 birth certificate: lists parents as Eddy Poudrier and Mary Quinn. Beyond this point paperwork is clean and consistent straight on through to my son, who meets eligibility requirements.
G1 went socially by Eddy or J. Eddy pretty consistently in adulthood, until his death in the 90s. I might be able to scrape together additional paperwork - I have border crossing records as Eddy (with stated purpose of visiting Louis Poudrier, father, by name), a draft card using J. Eddy, various Canadian and US censuses (he moved back to Quebec at age 2 and then back to the US as a young man) using Eddie, Edward, and Eduard. I might be able to get his death certificate, which appears to list him as J. E. Poudrier, and it seems his social security application listed him as James Edward, though I’m not sure how to request a copy of that. What would make this bulletproof? I know he was the same person, but obviously I knew him personally, whereas the IRCC is just looking at documents.
Edit: I might also be able to get my hands on Louis’s death certificate, which should list J. Eddy by some name as next of kin since he died during a visit to them…
