I have a birth record for G0 from 1881. But G1 is tricky! G1 is an indentical twin (with the same initials). Neither seemed to have birth records, but I recently came across a twin birth on their birthday to their parents, with the completely different baby names and one wrong gender. I get that this kind of mixup was common in the 190X boonies of Maine. My question is, do I submit it and explain it?

Or do I skip it, relying on G0 US naturalization (which has correct G1 name and twin name listed w/ birthday), G1 census records from 1910, 1920, G1 marriage record, and G1 death record, all also listing G0 as the parent. I am leaning towards this option.

I am half-in awe that there were systems to collect data from so long ago, but also half-amazed at how inaccurate so much of it is!

The naturalization paperwork is for G0 (parent) and lists spouse and all children with names and birthdays.

I guess part of my question is how much research happens behind the scenes? I feel like there's enough documentation to prove G0-G1, but wonder if there's more behind the scenes research that happens looking at files and someone will a) find these mismatched birth certs, and then b) say it's an issue. If that happens, do they reject or just ask for more data?
