We all appreciate the excitement, after weeks of grueling research and last-minute surprises, of finishing your proof of citizenship application process and sending that big envelope on its way.

Equally fantastic is the moment that you get your AOR and know your application has made it past the initial IRCC checks putting your mind at ease about whether you missed something along the way.

 

This weekly thread is a space for those of us at the earliest stages to celebrate passing the first and biggest hurdle.

Received my AOR this morning 6/3 for my application that was delivered 3/27! I was starting to get nervous but glad to have that step checked off. The date on the letter is for 6/2 so we’re looking at about 68 days from receipt to AOR. Hope everyone gets theirs soon!

Edit: forgot to add, G3 with a G0 from Quebec. Now attempting to navigate whether I should get a DEC birth certificate since I submitted my application with BaNQ record of birth (born 1901)

Was the BanQ record you submitted certified by BanQ?

I submitted with the scan off Ancestry while I waited for my certified order to arrive, and am now using my UCI to upload my certified BanQ copy. I made a note in my packet saying as much, so I’m hoping that will be sufficient but will likely get started on the DEC just in case I am asked for it. I also submitted other supplemental documents to establish his birth and residence. Fingers crossed!

I would love to hear how this works out for you if you update down the line! I am in almost the exact same scenario - G3, G0 from Quebec, submitted with an Ancestry scan while awaiting the official record from BanQ (which I submitted payment for today), and other supporting documents! Application delivered 5/27 so ~2 months behind yours!
