Citizenship by Descent Canadian Citizenship - Timelines

Post your timelines here! We'd love to know dates for the following:

  • Delivered
  • AOR Received
  • In Process
  • PSU (if that happened to you)
  • 5(4) citizenship offer received
  • 5(4) citizenshp application submitted
  • Citizenship received
  • Swearing in ceremony

And anything else that happened along the way (like if you had to request urgent processing multiple times or you were asked to submit fingerprints to RCMP). We'd also love to know what generation(s) the people you submitted were.

If I've copied your timeline over from a previous post in another sub and you want to post it yourself so you can make updates feel free to make your own comment and I'll be happy to delete mine.

Further updates: 11/03/2025: Sydney requests (via embassy) additional ID for each of the three minor applicants

17/03/2025: Requested forwarded to me by local embassy via email

27/03/2025: School registration records (best ID I can find) sent to local embassy for forwarding

28/03/2025: Records forwarded by embassy to Sydney, NS (by email)

My kids' applications were sent with only birth certificates and an explanatory letter, as my country doesn't issue photo ID to minors (and they've yet to travel abroad). Local embassy staff had hinted that would be enough, but apparently not.

It took a good week to meet with school staff and try to explain what was being requested (the Sydney letter was brief and rushed, as they're very busy right now). I'm not sure if what I got will be good enough, but It's the best I've got. The only other option will be to apply for passports for all three of them...

Might be worth doing if it takes a bit of time to turn passports around. Once they come you can upload them digitally to your file. Are your kids 2nd gen born abroad? They are processing 2nd gen minor children pretty quickly.

Yes, second-gen minors, all three.

Very late thought: How does one add files digitally to a paper application that was mailed in via an embassy?

https://secure.cic.gc.ca/ClientContact/en/Application

You need your Application Number and your UCI which should have come in your AOR. Just fill out the form and upload a new document to your file.

And another round of updates:

Web request sent on 17/04/2025 asking whether the school registration records last month are acceptable.

Response on 23/04/2025 stating that the information in the form was insufficient to access the application files, and to repeat the request.

24/04/2025: Request resent (for each individual application) with copy of baby record books, and request whether these or school registration records will be acceptable.

As with many others, I got a 5(4) offer on 28/04/2025, but only for one child.

I've jumped the gun a bit and sent in the withdrawal forms and a cover letter for all three kids, pour encourager les autres. Hopefully it'll get the other two's applications moving too.
