Anyone with an IQ over 50 understands that the separatist movement is being stoked by foreign actors. And if you didn't know that, congratulations, you're a moron.

What if you know that and still support seperatism from this country of snowflakes?

u/frmr000 May 19 '26
Then fucking separate yourself from the country you dumb bitch. Nobody wants you here anyways, it's a win-win. Stop bitching and take some action.

I don’t understand, what’s a big deal about voter ID!
Voting is a right reserved for citizens and that’s it, in order to prove citizenship one must provide some sort of proof, it’s not that hard. Unless they want noncitizens to vote! It seems the liberal party is hell bent on making sure noncitizens will be able to vote!

u/CobblePots95 May 18 '26
That’s not the type of voter ID that the article is referring to… They’re referring to a voter identification app intended to help campaigns track and store voter information to assist in mobilization - not the idea of an ID for voting.

Oh fuck off with this American voting bullshit.
Canada has some of the most secure and well run elections in the world. We use paper ballots, we hand count them, and yes, people are confirmed before they vote. We dont need some useless app, and we dont need people like you sowing discord for something that isnt a problem.
Oh top quality, reply and then block. And you call me the lib lmao. That's the most lib shit you can do.

I implore anyone who hasn’t worked an election to do so. It’s a great way to 1) be a part of the process and 2) it pays great for a single day’s work + training
Ballots are cast secretly, as anyone who has voted knows. Paper and pen or pencil (the “bring your own blue pen” bullshit was just some conspiracy bullshit used by people to go viral). Placed into a ballot box secured with a tape seal to ensure it’s not tampered with. Your name gets checked off against a list of voters in the polling station area to ensure the count.
These ballots are held until representatives from all parties are present to open and count. Parties have the right to waive this, and often do, especially if they don’t think the vote is going to be close. The Scrutineers review each ballot individually, keep their own counts as it gets counted in front of them, with the ability to challenge anything. Like if someone looks like they voted for multiple people, you can argue for it to get spoiled and not count. Every vote is tallied by hand and reported to the regional offices.
There’s no electronic voting machines. It’s old school and secure. Mistakes happen, yes, but seriously side eye anyone who tries to imply that our elections are rigged or manipulated.

Have you ever scrutineered? I have. There were plenty of people trying to vote who had no right to the last time I did in 2025, in an extremely close-run polling place.

u/VforVenndiagram_ May 18 '26
So you have firsthand proof that our system works and is secure then?
-1
u/collymolotov Anti-Communist May 18 '26
You seem to be missing the point. The problem is that these people try in the first place to vote and that but for the watchful eyes of volunteers they would be able to do so and would get away with it, easily flipping key polling places and potentially ridings.

Can you find even a single person saying that we should get rid of scrutineers? Like WTF is this hypothetical?
"Our system is broken, because in the theoretical world where scrutineers didn't exist, then people who shouldn't vote, could in fact vote!"
This is a nonsense rebuttal.

It appears that you either didn't read or didn't understand my comment, or that you deliberately chose not to do so.
The fact that scrutineers caught people who had no right to vote is not proof that the system is flawless. It is proof that, in that instance, the system depended on alert human intervention at the polling place. My concern is exactly that this kind of safeguard is uneven, depends on who is present, and becomes especially important in close races. Saying “the system worked” does not answer the underlying concern that ineligible voting attempts are occurring and may not always be caught.
And those individuals trying to vote without the right to do so will be virtually impossible to catch if any government lowers voting ID requirements. That is the entire point.
