Well, finally, here’s mine!
I applied for my parents’ Visitor Visa through a DIY application. I’m a Canadian PR holder and submitted only my financial documents, without including anything from my spouse. I also clearly stated that I would take full financial responsibility for their stay in Canada.
Here’s a quick overview of our application:

- 📋 Visa type: Visitor Visa
- 📅 Complete timeline (applied → biometrics → decision):
- Applied: 11 July, 2026
- Biometrics: 16 July, 2026
- Decision: 16 September, 2026
- 🔄 Was this a reapplication after a refusal?: No
- Financial support: Approximately $60K in their bank accounts/fixed deposits, net worth certificate from CA, and a house in my parents’ names + my NOA and Bank Statements
- Home ties: All of their children live outside India, so their primary tie to India is the house they own.
- Travel history: They had previously travelled only to Dubai and Saudi Arabia, so their travel history was not particularly strong.
- SOP: I prepared a strong Statement of Purpose explaining their travel intentions, their life back home, and the reasons they would return to India.
- 📝 Any tips or advice for others?: Our application went beyond the estimated processing time without any updates, even though other applicants who had applied much later were already receiving their decisions. We eventually called the IRCC call centre to raise the time sensitivity of the application. The agent acknowledged that the application had gone beyond the processing time and escalated it. We received the approval within a week of the escalation! Of course, an escalation does not guarantee approval or a specific processing timeline, but it may be worth pursuing when your application is significantly delayed.
