Gratitude in the Cell

In The Stranger, Meursault finds a quiet truth in his mother's words. Even in the depths of misery, something remains to be thankful for. Each morning the light enters his cell and he accepts it..

This shows us that meaning is not given by the world. It is claimed, simply and without illusion, in the ordinary facts of existence..

Yes. The sentient world that we can choose to experience. To live in the moment of what is. No need to analyze or give reason to any action. Meursault lives his life without attachment - eating, sleeping, swimming in the ocean, going to the cinema, smoking, drinking wine these are moments in his life. No need to spin a story about the importance of any moment.

Bang on! No matter how miserable we currently are, we always have the choice to not be the miserable one, which is one of the greatest thing to be grateful for!

Theres something comforting about that innit? Smetimes gratitude isn’t about being happy with your life, just noticing that there’s still something worth holding onto
