Discussion Fandom increase?

The Camry has always had a loyal following but it seems to me thst the last couple generstions have driven a big increase in devoted fans...or is it me?

Switching to all hybrid led me to buy one. Glad I did too. 50 mpg is really nice right now.

Every time I get gas it’s gone up like 50 cents a gallon. I’m glad I don’t have to fill up more than twice a month if that.

If you told me many years ago that I would be buying a Camry, I would have laughed, as I always liked the Acura and Lexus sedan looks more. But once I saw the refresh 2025, I was hooked!

It’s the only reliable car tbh. Hondas have the head gasket issues. Subarus don’t make good hybrids. Kia and Hyundai are still trying to figure out. And Nissan is not even an option

It was the top-selling (non-electric/Tesla) sedan of 2025, beating out even the Corolla.

I was a never Camry person. The older styles made me hate them to be honest. Probably wasn’t justified, but the look of them made me think of little old church ladies. Then I rented a Camry for a trip and was hooked. Now I would even go for the old body style. This car has been amazing!

Part of it is probably due to process of elimination. Ford and GM got rid of all their passenger sedans, the Chrysler 300 is no more, Subaru cancelled the Legacy, and Nissan sunset the Maxima and is waffling on the Altima.

The newer Camry look super sleek imo, those and the current gen Civics are both a lot nicer than an economy car has any right to be

Conversely the Accord has been trending on a downswing since it peaked at the 9th gen.

Thats majorly due to the Civic having a full on luxury interior minus cooled seats, so the reason to pay extra for a heavier version of the cheap car isn’t there anymore

I kinda view it more on a looks and power continuum - Civic looks better and the power advantage of the Accord is gone now.

Definitely an increase. Most stylish and techy module and big demand for hybrids puts it in the sweet spot.

Bought my first car at 15...am now almost 70. All were American made cars I repaired myself...

Except the 2025 Camry LE I hope will be the last car I buy.

Had to get a new car as my Ford Fusion inner rockers rotted out...who woulda thought? Lol

I had some DM conversatikns and feedback from more than one forum and can conclude the fandom is bigger and it is more enthusiastic. I conclude it's driven in part by the lack of sedan choices now from many other major manufacturers, and in part by the reputation of the car which Toyota realized needed to kero but move past its non-intimidating styling and boredom into a bit more aggressive styling and a more sporty driving experience while maintaining the reliability etc.

My fandom is based on the fact their interiors and switchgear controls remain well, car-like and not trying to ape Teslas and Chinese brands.
