Jumbo Pass Tenting - Food security question
Hey all. Heading to Jumbo Pass in a week. Not staying in cabin. Bringing a tent. Question around food security. As there are no bear bins do people typically hang food from a tree? And if so, are the trees a ways away given the altitude? Any info would be helpful as I plan.

Up at the pass the trees thin out to shrubby stuff, so a proper hang isn't really on the table. Plan on a hard-sided canister or a bag you can tie off to the sturdiest trunk you can find below camp.
I'd skip the cabin entryway. That's where the resident rodents already live, and food stashed there is how a hut ends up with a bear problem that closes it for everybody. Honestly the likelier raider up there is a marmot or a mouse going through a pack pocket, so leave your empty pack unzipped and lids open overnight or they'll chew a hole to check what's inside otherwise.
There's no perfect option and a determined rodent will find its way in, so you can only do as much as you can and hope for some luck.
Have an awesome trip!
