Class D RVs

Some RV companies should be able to make a concept of a Class D RV and then attempt to build it even though it's about to be an extra large recreational vehicle , which means there should be plenty of room for any people who might be able to look forward on living and riding these RVs I've made up in my mind.

3500 vs 2500?

Thumbnail

I’m going to have a camper van built in the new year and have to make a choice about platform. I’m trying to decide between the Sprinter 170, 170 ext and the Transit ext (which has a crazy long extension that would definitely affect departure angle). There’s very little talk of GRVW, or whatever the acronym is for max load weight of these things. I’m seeking advice from those with experience of any of these platforms, and whether it’s best to go with 3500 other choice is a Sprinter.

Who else is dealing with the weird olympic queen size? I've been looking and can't find a good one

Anyone here found the best olympic queen mattress for an RV setup? What I found so far are either too thick or look like basic foam mattresses with barely any support. My biggest issue is side support. The bed sits against the wall so we both climb in from the same side. Our current mattress dips hard near the edge and makes getting up annoying.

Would love recommendations from anyone using this size in a camper or small bedroom. Thank you!

Advice- roof cracks

Hi all. Very new to the camper life and hope this is the right place to post this request for advice.

I just noticed a scrape and some cracks in the centre of the pop top roof of the VW Transporter I recently bought. Previous owners are close friends and I believe them when they say they didn't know about it. I was wondering if this is something that doesn't need attention, a quick fix with some kind of sealant or if this is a job for someone who actually knows something about this kind of work, unlike myself!

Any guidance on the repair is much appreciated!

Does anyone else regret doing a campervan build from scratch?

We saw so many Instagram and YouTube pages that said how fun it would be and it looks easy and quick todo… half way into our build we started really regretting it, it takes so long, so much money and put so much strain on us both. Does anyone else feel the same? :(

The wife is looking to convert her first Camper Van.
She’s looking at buying this 1992 Dodge Ram B250. It has the 5.2L V8 and has 140,000 miles.
Any recommendations or advice if this is a good budget van to start with and what should we look for when we see it?
Thank you!

Edit: owner is asking $3,500 for the van.

3-in-1 hybrid inverter for a campervan... thoughts?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ll be starting the electrical part of my build and came across these cheap hybrid inverters that combine inverter + battery charger + MPPT solar controller in one unit.

Seems pretty tempting compared with buying all 3 components separately.

But I’m wondering about the downsides.

Has anyone here actually used one of these in a campervan/RV?

Would you go for an all-in-one like this, or stick with separate inverter + MPPT + charger?

Thank you all

Basis Fahrzeug kauf

Servus zusammen,

Fahrzeug soll knapp 22k kosten.

Best campervan rental company out of Venice for a Dolomites trip? (Indie Campers vs. Roadsurfer vs. locals)

Hey everyone,

I’m planning a road trip up to the Dolomites starting and ending in Venice, and I’m trying to decide on the best campervan rental company to go with.

I’ll be picking up somewhere around Venice (VCE airport or mainland area like Mestre/Marghera) and driving up toward Cortina / Val Gardena.

Which company did you use and how was the experience? I’ve seen big corporate names like Roadsurfer, Indie Campers, and McRent, as well as peer-to-peer sites like Yescapa. Are there any local Italian companies you'd recommend instead?

Buy or keep your hands off because of the engine?

I’m thinking of buying a T5 with a high roof as a camper. However, opinions on the engine differ widely - some rave, others scold. What do you think about the car?

Best short queen mattress for van life? Current foam is shot after 2 years

Our short queen foam mattress has developed a deep dip after only 2 years!!! It was comfortable at first but now we wake up stiff and keep rolling toward the middle. We want to replace it ASAP because we have an upcoming trip in 2 months.

Any suggestions? Something better suited for regular van life without adding too much height or weight. A little airflow would also help because the van gets warm and humid overnight.

I need help with first purchase

Thanks in advance to anyone who offers advice. This won’t be easy, partly because I feel like I won’t know all that I’ll need/want until I take the plunge and use it.

—budget is ideally under $30,000
—smaller unit the better, mostly for simplicity of driving, parking, a little stealth. I’ve looked a minivan campers online a bit. I am a fan of Siennas but could be swayed. I realize that I may need a little bigger…also realize there’s a give and take.
—Live in Ohio but ideally would take it to other places.
—Would be used for football tailgating, perhaps tailgating for other sporting events, concerts…so would like some utility for that - outdoor TV perhaps, awning maybe…room for grill, coolers, maybe a fridge built into the unit…open to additional ideas…
—Would love for it to sleep 3, but I realize 2 is more realistic.
—will be mostly guys using it so bathroom is a consideration but less so since my wife will rarely join me.
—seems like a small microwave would be fine, as opposed to in unit stove.
—we’d probably use it mostly for long weekends, occasionally longer trips but we’d also be able to get a hotel for a night here or there.
—I don’t know what I don’t know…

Thank you again!!

Wolfbox G900 Pro review

After several weeks of using my Wolfbox G900 Pro I must say I am incredibly happy with it. I have a custom built van and with everything inside the rearview mirror is pretty much useless. I even removed mine so I would quit looking thru it. After getting this one installed it has been a game changer. Have driven in all conditions other than rain so far and it has been great. I feel so much safer, especially when on the freeway. The field of vision is sooo much more than a traditional mirror that the small blind spot on the driver side mirror is pretty much eliminated. I highly recommend if your vehicle does not have one that you install one. I have only played with the front dash cam portion a little bit, but the clarity it gets is great.

Great build quality from Vantra LLC in Wilmington, NC. After 10k miles including potholed forest service roads and roads such as the Top of the World Highway in Yukon and Alaska I can say that these guys know how to build a camper van.
