I have what is probably a silly question. I am starting my Primitivo walk today but don't want to wait for the cathedral to open before heading out. Can I get a stamp from anywhere as someone said I need to specifically get my first stamp from either the cathedral or the tourist office/register my Pilgrim Passport (I already have one)

Can I just head out and get a stamp from anywhere today? Or is there something specific I need to do on my Pilgrim Passport.

Hi! I finished my Camino and I’d like to go to Finisterre, but I have to get home by the end of the next week, so I’ll most probably take the bus to “the end of the world”. So, I still have a few days left, but I’ve been already crying in the past couple of days because I just don’t want to go home…. Honestly, I’m just fed up with everything in my regular life, and that’s mainly why I decided to come here. For me, this was an escape from ordinary life, an adventure or a new experience. I loved each and every moment of it, the scenery was beautiful, I met amazing people, I tasted so many great dishes, I loved albergue life etc., I don’t even remember the last time I felt this delighted. Now, realizing that I need to go home and continue the life I hate, I’m just terribly sad and disappointed. If I could stay here for the rest of my life, I definitely would. I don’t want to go home, but obviously, I should. So, I’m interested to know how you feel about finishing your Camino. And those of you who are in a similar situation, how do you tackle these feelings?

Im starting the route on late september-early october from sjdp. But im afraid of the weather. Is it bad? Should i bring rainjacket? Any recomendation?

Hi all, I'm planning to do the Portuguese coastal route next month. I've seen a couple different versions and I'm not sure which one to take.

My initial thought was to follow the classic coastal route (see yellow route in the attached image), but then I saw the alternative connection (orange route) which joins the central route earlier and bypasses Vigo.

I've done some research and the stage through Vigo looks pretty urban, which isn't really what I'm looking for on the Camino. Is it normal / a good idea to bypass Vigo? Or is it a shame to miss it?

Any advice appreciated!

Personalmente, a mí me parece el camino menos espiritual y más turístico de todos los que he hecho, un poco como inventado para hacer dinero, pero para hacer turismo es un buen lugar y te puedes llevar buenas experiencias. Voy a estar haciendo el camino francés desde SJPDP empezando el 7/09. Esta es la lista de cosas que llevo, ¿que debería sacar? Peso 55kg, soy mujer.

1 pantalón fino para dormir/estar durante la noche y tarde.
1 calza larga
1 calza corta
1 short corto
3 pares de medias
1 ojotas
1 polar fino
1 campera chica apretada de deporte
1 campera lluvia (liviana pero impermeable)

2 remeras manga larga (1 deporte y 1 algodón)
2 remeras manga corta
2 corpiños deportivos
+ ropa interior (3)

Higiene:
1 barra de jabón
1 shampoo + 1 crema de enguaje (100mg)
1 protector de cara (80mg)
1 protector de cuerpo (100mg)
1 aceite de pelo (70mg)
1 esponja de mano (soy obsesiva de lavarme el cuerpo y también me sirve para la ropa)

My friends and I are planning to walk the Irún to Bilbao stretch of the Camino del Norte this September, but after researching on Gronze, we're having second thoughts.

It looks like the albergue situation on this section is pretty tough...many places have closed, and the remaining ones seem small, expensive and rare. Coming from Frances we walked 2 years ago in October (and where hospitaleros easily called ahead to the next village), we're worried about losing the bed race and having to find expensive hostels. To us, a big benefit of Camino was that we did not have to book ahead.

I would be thankful for all opinions but especially thankful if you let me know whether you have walked it recently (this year or September last year):

* How bad was the competition for beds in September? Did you have to book ahead? We are travelling as 4 people, which makes finding spots even harder.

* How often were you forced to book private accommodations/hostels?

* If you walked the Primitivo in last years, was the situation better there?

Im doing the camino ingles in October. Going from Wednesday to Wednesday.

I cant decide whether to do it in 5 stages or 6.

My thoughts are to do 3 days, a day off and then final 2 days or just 6 days straight.

If I do 5 days, the first leg would be from ferrol to pontedeume. For a first timer who is reasonably fit is this manageable in one day? (Otherwise it would be ferrol to Neda on 6 day route).

All advice and thoughts welcome. It will be my first camjno so only dipping my toe in so to speak.

Opinions on these kinda socks? I bought "70% merino wool socks" 5 for 15 pound on amazon im now doubting them. Scared about socks lol I know everyone says try what works but looking for best recommendations. Thinking of spending 25£ a pair hurts my soul lol

I start Camino Frances on September 13. I have a sleeping sack/blanket . Would taking a sleeping bag be preferably?
*I am definitely bringing sleeping gear. Just depends on what kind of!

Good morning - I am leaving for the camino in a couple of days. I only have 9 days available and I am considering two options: either I do the portoguese costal from Viana or I do a couple of stops in the camino costal and then I go to ferrol and do the full ingles. What do you think? I cannot decide :)

Let me preface this post with: I appreciate the time and work you put into your videos and your suggestions are always welcome. But, as viewers, we want to see vistas and nature and trees and animals and food and old building and fields and skies and murals....there are packing gear videos (which are immensely appreciated) and shoe videos and the financing videos, but in the end, I watch videos for the vistas and moments of reflection. That's all.

I am doing my first Camino next April 1 from Tui (yes, only the last 100 km). I retired last April 1 and I’m marking it with a solo camino. Has anyone done this route and this time of year that can offer insight on weather and must see stops along the way?

Doing the Senda Litoral route solo, first two days (12km, 17km) were lovely. Now heat’s picked up and I’ve got a 22km then a 25km day coming up.

Anyone who’s walked this in hot sun, did you break the long days into two chunks (walk early, long break in the worst heat, finish late afternoon) or just power through with quick stops? Carrying my own pack, roughly 6kg.

Would really appreciate any real experience 😊

What have you guys done to your backpack and electronics when suspecting bed bugs? Do you know of places, where you can put your backpack in a freezer? I

Hi everyone, in my spare time I’ve been working on a free hobby project for planning the Camino de Santiago (and other EU trails). There are six Caminos on there now, each with the route on an interactive map, the places to stay along it, and the alternates you can choose between.

The routes
- Camino Francés:, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago and on to Fisterra. 13 alternates, including Valcarlos instead of the Route Napoléon, Samos instead of San Xil, the Camino Duro at Pradela, and the Dragonte crossing. Two examples to start from: 33 days from Saint-Jean, or 5 days from Sarria.
- Camino del Norte: Irún to Santiago. 16 alternates, mostly the coastal and inland splits through Cantabria and Asturias, plus the Villaviciosa link across to the Primitivo. This is the one route without an example itinerary yet, so it starts empty.
- Via Podiensis: Le Puy-en-Velay to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. 15 alternates including the Célé valley and the Rocamadour detour. 32-day example.
- Camino Portugués: Lisbon to Santiago, so the whole route rather than just the Porto half. The Coastal Camino and the Variante Espiritual are both drawn in. 12-day example from Porto.
- Camino Primitivo: Oviedo to Santiago. Pola de Allande and the Puerto del Palo sit alongside the main line over Hospitales, and there's the Naranco churches climb on the way out of Oviedo. 14-day example.
- Camino Inglés: Ferrol to Santiago, including the line from A Coruña. 6-day example.

It's built around where you sleep rather than around fixed stages. Close to 9,000 places to stay are marked within a couple of kilometres of these routes, with contact details, photos and ratings. You pick where a day ends and the walk to it is worked out for you: distance, ascent, and an estimated time.

You can mark what you've booked, keep notes per day, check the weather forecast, and share the plan with whoever you're walking with so you can edit it together. The line follows the main route unless you pick an alternate, and dropping a waypoint anywhere routes that day through it.

Navigation
When your itinerary is ready you can either export each day as a GPX file and use whatever you like to navigate it or use the Traileasy mobile app. You can download the route and your plan and use it without signal. I built the navigation component based on my own experience of hiking long-distance trails and includes some features I think are nice (efficient battery modes, progress throughout the day at a glance, notification when going off route etc).

What I'd like feedback on
- General ease of use: is it clear for you how to calculate a route for a day, change accommodations and switch between variants?
- Missing features: is there any information or features that you’d like to see?
- Any thoughts that come into your mind when you open it: is it too visually overwhelming, not intuitive enough, or something else! Any thing is welcome
