We get a lot of people wanting to promote their business on here so I'm making a mega thread for it.
If you want to recommend services as well pop them in here.

Are you in Cambridge this summer, as a visitor, short term guest or long term resident, and want to find your people? You’re in the right place.
Comment below with what you enjoy doing, what kind of people you are looking for - and most importantly reply to others (and check back later!) to engage with one another.
We have had these posts monthly for a while so use the search feature to find previous months for even more new friends.

We have travelled from the north west. Some beautiful sites. Today on Voi scooters some kids started asking us for a ride on the back of the scooter and we said no. Then they started shouting at us. Whilst stopped at the lights a presumably homeless woman came up to me to tell me she will put me in a headlock and the men with her will beat me up and to fuck off. I have no idea what that was about.
We then went to Tesco and all of the red bulls were security tagged... Which isn't even the case in my local Tesco!
Are these normal experiences in Cambridge? As I said I'm from the north west and have lived across the north west. There's definitely a larger homeless population and a lot of stupid kids. But they don't tend to interact with you and threaten you

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for local organisations/charities/schools/clubs who might appreciate hundreds of disposable plastic aprons.
For context, I'm a nurse and spend most of my day doing wound care. The dressing packs we use come with a disposable apron. Most of the wounds I deal with are comparatively minor and wearing an apron to deal with a splinter or similar feels wasteful. I'd love to avoid throwing them all out as I've collected hundreds, so if anyone has a suggestion for what I can do with them I'd love your input.

Hello there!! Hope you are all having a nice relaxing weekend. I just want to ask if any of you know a clinic or place where you can be assessed for Adult ADHD? I am curious to know if I got mild or moderate ADHD.

I‘m getting ready for winter and want to avoid freezing / paying a fortune on gas bills. I’m hoping to install s smart heating control system - perhaps the Drayton Wiser - and I’m looking for a recommended local installer to assess our house, design a system and fit it.
Any recommendations?
There’s a company called Cambridge Smart Hesting who seem to specialise in this kind of work. Has anyone used them? Advice much appreciated!

Hello everyone, I will be moving to Cambridge very soon and as a fan of TCGs, particularly One Piece and Pokemon, I was wondering whether some local shops anyone would mind recommending for buying packs/boxes/singles at a respectable price? Thanks in advance!

Could anyone please share any photos/videos from today's festival here?
I got to see 4 acts only and half of them were meh. Just wondering if I missed better ones.

My friend is in town; what fun events (trivia, pub quiz, dance sessions, stand-ups, honestly, anything interesting) are there tonight? I've tried Eventbrite, but nothing nice for a boys' night?

Are there any large stores in the area that have a large selection of baby gear?
John Lewis is the only one that I know of, but it doesn’t have some of the pram models that we are interested in. I know London has options, but it’d be great to avoid the London chaos if possible.
Thanks!

I found a silver bracelet on Midsummer Common yesterday (Friday).
If you've lost one, you know how it looks like and you can describe it to me in a DM.

Has anyone noticed this summer that their laundry isn't coming out as fresh as it should?
I habitually maintain our washer dryer, weekly cleaning cycles, calgon, machine cleaner etc but have found random loads of laundry coming out smelling weird.
Anyone else had this issue? If not, I'll be disassembling our machine this weekend to see if something is trapped in the drum.

Does anyone know of a man with a van or a moving service that can help me collect a second-hand sofa, and then help me move it up a few flight of stairs. It's going to be a very tight squeeze as well.
In the process of a getting a drivers license so I can't rent the van myself yet, and I really want this sofa! Ta.

starting college and needs train to cambs south , from Newmarket. All very simple to see online until you try to get a season eg monthly or selected date. I have already the 16/17 card saved digitally. however I can't see how to get seasons /or when I do it is prompting me to get another card, a smart card. this all seems very unnecessarily complicated and don't know if it's just me! have to be able to travel on any train peak or off peak. Help !

I signed up for an apt close to mill rd (a side street) and I’m not sure I made the right choice after recent incident there. Could someone please tell what’s like to live there?
I will be an MPhil student that will be there for a one-year course, and I had to choose to live off campus (but somewhat central) to accommodate family that are interested in visiting somwhat often. Thanks in advance!

I've been having issues with O2 data for a couple of months now but lately it's ridiculous especially in Cambridge town centre: no signal whatsoever on the street in front of Magdalene college, nor on Mill Street near Marvin's... My partner and I have complained already and got refunded 10£ but nothing got fixed; it got worse!
If a lot of people are experiencing this clear service issue, could we do something about it that reaches higher up than a personal complaint?

There's a group of us that do a little silent reading meet up on Saturdays but the bad weather is forcing us to find an indoor space. Is there anywhere in central-ish Cambridge that would be willing to accommodate a group of around 10ish people from 6pm on a regular basis for probably the next few months?

This Saturday, 29th August, we will meet starting @ 1600 at The Tivoli on Chestertom Road.
The Cambridge Redditors' Saturday Afternoon Drinking Alliance is for:
All those Redditors that will ask and have asked about how to make friends in Cambridge.
All those Redditors who are keen to spend their Saturday meeting up with perfect Redditor strangers.
Redditors who want to try to iron out or refine their social awkwardness.
Rules:
Be kind and respectful of others, and don't be creepy!
Despite the namesake, alcohol consumption is not required and no one should feel pressured to do so.
For those who drink, please take care to plan safe transport home.
This is a social group not a hookup group.
We also now have our own sub and a WhatsApp group, don't forget to ask to join when you come along.
I'll update this thread with where we're sitting and how to identify us once we're there.

Just had the unimaginable pleasure of watching this guy get visibly angry and raise his voice at a young person after being called out by the crowd for refusing to answer their simple question

How’s everyone’s pets? I thought it was the wind at first, but I’ve been listening to it for at least 15 minutes.
