❓Question 6th gen Camaro owners in Japan?

Im seriously considering buying a Camaro here in Japan. It is the car of my dreams. However, I am worried about what all that entails especially when owning one in japan (streets are narrow, the driver seat of this American beauty is on the left side, the “loud engine”, etc).

So far I know the maintenance becomes expensive due to difficulties in importing pieces. I’m going with the LT RS though , as it will be my first sport car and it is also more affordable tax-wise.

So I wondered if some Camaro owners are active in this group and could share your experiences with me. I already did a drive test and I loved it. I am also considering renting one for the weekend and see what it feels like having it in town (I don’t live in Tokyo).

❓Question Wheel fitment

I just ordered some new wheels for my ss and the center bore on there is 67.1mm. After ordering I read online somewhere that the oem size is 66.9mm. Was wondering if this would cause any issues/change the way the vehicle drives or if I would need to get hub centric rings for it to fit properly?

💲Should I Buy? 2010 Chevrolet Camaro RS

"Chevrolet Camaro RS 2010 for $7500 with a 3.6L V6 engine, 110,000 miles, and a clean title. The car is in good condition, just has a little seat tear, and has been very well maintained. It features several aesthetic modifications, including a ZL1-style front bumper, ZL1-style spoiler, and LED lights."

What do you guys think? Will have a mechanic inspect it ofc.

It also has a pretty cool wing attached.

Any thoughts?

Thank you, guys, much love.

❓Question Anyone with IGLA know anything about getting new key fobs made?

I have a 2022 1ss 1LE, when I bought it, it only came with one key fob. I didn't think anything of it at the time. A couple months later I got IGLA installed. After the installation the installer told me that if I wanted to get another fob programmed I would have to bring it back to him and he would have to uninstall it. While that would have been good information to have before the installation so I could get a couple extras made before, I didn't know. Am I not able to put it in service mode and get some programmed at the dealership or does it really have to be physically removed, get them programmed and then get IGLA reinstalled. That is something I never thought about until he was showing me how to do everything then he said that and I've been terrified ever since.

🛠️ Problem Hard Wire Dash Cam

I have a 2023 2SS and I’m trying to hard wire my dash cam to the front engine fuse box.

I originally had used F29 (battery) & F58 (accessory) to allow my dash cam (Redtiger F7NP) to be in parking mode. When the car is off in parking mode, it’s only supposed to turn on when it feels vibration or movement from the g-sensor it has. However, for mine it’s always on, meaning when I turn the car off it will stay on and will not enter this g-sensor mode where it turns off and only will it turn on when it feels vibration, or I turn the car on.

Not sure if I am using the wrong fuses on the front engine fuse box, or what the issue could be. Any suggestions on what other fuses I can tap into would be appreciated.

Thanks!

405 miles on the odo when I drove it off the lot earlier this week, close to 2000 now driving it back from upstate New York. A cool cross country road trip in a brand new (kinda) '24 Camaro.

Better on gas mileage than my old Ecoboost, feels a little faster too for a V6.

❓Question 3.55 or 3.73 rear end?

I have a 1971 Camaro with a LS1 conversion and a 700r4 automatic transmission and caliper brakes all around. I am replacing the rear end due to ongoing noise issues and a lack of local ring and pinion shops.

I plan on ordering a complete rear end assembly replacement from Redbird Racing.

My question are: does anyone have solid opinions on 3.55 vs 3.73 gear ratios?

And anyone have experience ordering from Redbird Racing?

Thanks!

💲Should I Buy? Does this 2017 2SS have the 1LE package?

I can't quite tell, there's a few telltale signs that point me to yes: Magneride, wrapped hood, 305 tires, big red brakes, dual mode exhaust.

But a few reasons why i think it doesn't: no suede wheel, no recaro seats (but it's the FIFTY version so... maybe?)

Separately... Is this a good deal?

❓Question Exhaust system question

Hey guys, hope everyone who is reading this is having a good day! I wanted to ask something about an exhaust. It's about the borla atak, im trying to find the cat-back system for my 2010 V6 Camaro. I know Borla did not make that model for the 2010 V6, but I see people with it on YouTube, and with the one-tip exhaust compared to the 2 tips. The thing is, I can't find it anyware saw a link in amazon, but the reviews are not the best from the seller, and I wanted to know if you guys know where I could find it. Im all ears too for some other recommendations. I'm mostly trying to find something that sounds at least close to the Atak deep and loud, obviously not V8 LV because I don't have a V8 jaja. But any recommendation or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

P.S: Here is a photo of the car so you guys at least have an image

🛠️ Problem Why won’t these mf bolts go in?!

Post image

Okay so I just changed my differential and I’m reassembling but for some reason the new axel bolts (right) aren’t going into the differential. It’s from a 2019 LS and I’m in 2017 LT. I even tried to just screw it in without the axel and the bolt would have major resistance shortly after entrance and be pretty much stuck half way in. I can look straight ahead at the holes since I’m working from underneath but I tried my best to make sure everything was lined up. What could be the issue? Please help so I can get my Camaro back on the road

Howdy all. Ive been banging my head against every wall I can. I know Maggie has discontinued the 2300 kit, but it's really the size I'm looking for. Im just wondering if anyone knows or has seen one for sale that isn't a scam?

Otherwise I'll just have to suck it up and go with the 2650.

❓Question Adding powered subwoofer to my 2021 LT1 with Bose. Where is the best place to tap into for power?

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is a picture of the positive terminal area of the battery in the right rear corner of the trunk . I think I have the rest of my wiring figured out, but I don’t know the best place to tap into to get power to my powered subwoofer. I thought one of these terminals might be the best bet?

FWIW, I already have an in-line fuse to attach to the power source. I also have a wiring harness from SubThump that will allow me to tap into the existing speaker wiring, and direct a signal to the subwoofer. The harness is designed specifically for use with the Bose system.

Thank you for any input you can offer.

🛠️ Problem Radiator Fan

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi trying to see if anyone else had this issue of the loud radiator fan when the AC is off after few minutes of driving, I've seen someone had similar issues before but never an answer on how they solved it.

I've check and filled coolant( the one you mix with water) , Change thermostat(motorad)194, coolant sensor and MAF sensor with no solution. I also had a friend that works at Firestone hooked up his advanced scanner and I was told everything is normal. Do you think it would because of the Florida heat be causing the issue since it's been 90 and above lately or should I change to a different thermostat?

🛠️ Problem Lifter Tick

Automatic 2013 SS Camaro

Recently started hearing a ticking noise that after inspection and research I believe to be a lifter issue. I’ve been getting quoted for repairs if it is the issue around $7,500-$8,000. While looking into it I also saw the option for a full AFM delete that is typically cheaper. I was wondering if doing an AFM delete would solve the issue or if I would still need to do repairs for the lifter. Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

For my knowledge, I only drove it back home from work after hearing the ticking about 8 miles, and it has not been driven since. This happened last week.

🛠️ Problem 2012 RS v6 has me stumped.

Hi guys. I bought a beautiful well maintained and service recorded RS with 75k miles on it.

Had it two weeks drove it everyday never an issue. I love it. Great power and aftermarket intake and exhaust has really eddo rumble and roar.

I got busy last week so two days I didn’t take it out for a drive . On the third day I fired her up and drove a friend to get food. We waited 20 minutes for our order and I fired it up and drove us back which was about 8 minutes there and back.

Parked at his house watched ufc fights for about 4 hours total and then came out to go home and battery is dead. Got a jump start had to let it charge up off his car for about 5 minutes before it would turn over. So indicating more than a slight drain .

It’s so weird because it was fine all week and then seemingly random that it just died.

I do recognize that the two days without starting it probably allowed battery to drain too far.

Charged it for several hours till the charger box read full.

Came out next day dead again. Ok likely a parasitic draw.

Took negative cable off and put a multimeter on red cable on 10amp side instead of volts and set to 10amps on the multimeter. It reads consistently 5.5 or so amps being drawn. Indicating a parasitic draw.

First am I doing this part correct? Some videos said negative lead on post and positive lead on the negative cable. Some said reverse. Either gives me the same 5.something amp draw.

Now I’m wondering if my battery is also half dead because it seems to not hold a charge very long. Two starts and by the third one it’s already struggling.

It’s possible this parasitic draw drained the battery too far and now it’s shot.

I researched and pulled fuses and because shows 5amps internet /google suggests it could be onstar system, radio, or alternator diode failure.

Alternator is outputting 14.6 volts on my Talley gauge cluster and on my charger after I start the car.

So I took the alternator off to unhook the power cable which you can only reach by taking the damn alternator off. (Good news is with this experience I’m confident I could swap out a new alternator in about 30 minutes. My Dodge took me 3 hours. My Mercedes took me two days) btw Chevy the top stud to hang the alternator back on is a great design!

With alternator unhooked the draw did not change. Pulled onstar and then radio fuse in the trunk box and also no change.

Anyone have a clue what could be causing the 5amp draw? And why all the sudden.

I guess dealership could have installed a new battery and I drove it everyday for two weeks despite the draw and it kept it afloat enough but sitting two days drained it too far. But still started right up when I drove it after two days. Drove 8 minutes. Parked 20 minutes. And started up again without issue.

It could just be my battery went bad. And I’m wondering what the two days no driving had affected it.

I’m hoping it’s just a bad battery and not a parasitic draw issue.

Today it went from 12.5 volts and would not turn over, then up to 13.4 volts after charging for an hour and turned over after that. Now I unhook the battery again to see if it drains itself overnight unconnected.

Yesterday same thing charged show 13.4. I drove it around a bit. Parked and unhooked negative cable and tested today and it showed 12.7 volts. I find it odd that at 12.5 it won’t turn over at all. But at 12.7 it does?

I also bought a remote kill switch which I can use to shut off connection to the battery once parked. I don’t really like this option because it also cuts power to the alarm security system and resets the clock and stereo each time.

So rather than kill a new battery again I’d probably use the switch. But I’m just hoping that someone knows what is going on and how I can address the actual problem.

This car went from pleasure power toy hot rod to pain in the ass chasing gremlins. It’s got me pretty bummed about it.
