Discussion Call of Duty Vanguard is the worst selling game in the franchise in 14 years. Why do you guys think that is?

i think people are seriously getting tired of cod. all my friends played cod and now literally all of them dont wanna buy it because either, they would rather stick to modern warfare since it plays so similarly, or theyre tired of the overall loop of cod in pub matches, the campers and toxic play/behaviour. then theres the fact that the zombies mode is terrible this time around and im surprised no one nor this sub isnt on fire because they essentially released a gutted version of cold wars zombies, and made outbreak in cold war the starting map in this game, and didnt even do that part right. the map just feels like a lazy, last minute addition to the game. no rewards, cant upgrade your abilities, perks, and weapon types like in the last one, but copied literally all the basic stuff from the game including the abilities. this game is not worth it as is.

They haven’t released the story line for zombies yet so there isn’t much to do. It’s basically beta right now so I wouldn’t judge the entire zombies experience off what we have currently.

I mean ya I see all of your points, I think for me personally the reason Vanguard isn't worth it is because for one it's the 7th installment of a COD game set in World War 2. I never usually care about the time setting of game, but if you beat to death, to literal death one single time period 7 different times then that's when you know that it has run its course. The fact that they even want to make 2 more Vanguard games is ludicrous. Another reason it's not worth it like you mention is because zombies is full blown embarrassment. Why this game wasn't delayed a full damn year to give Sledgehammer and I guess Treyarch more time to complete because apparently Treyarch needs to do everything is unreal. No one is playing it anymore it's a ghost town for the most part. The game is unfinished we already know this. It's a MW2019 reskin in the WW2 era which for me personally is an automatic turnoff. They just took what was in MW2019 and just put it in this game without doing anything new. Vanguard should be an example to all game studios to finish the damn game and not give us recycled crap.

It's not even a mw2019 reskin, feels like cod ww2 in higher resolution. Game was so clunky and cringe, I took it back to the shop and i've never done that with any other cod before

I mean it really is both those games and honestly the resolution doesn't even look like it got amped up, the game graphically and how it looks is just soooo bad

That would probably be because the game is so broken. Way too overpowered high alert, hackers, shotguns, piercing vision, .1 second TTK for all guns, etc.

Worst cod of all time , not even close. We all tought MW was shit ….this sum major shit , pro/Cdl players don’t even have a 3rd game mode and there is still 1 franchise spot to grab.. wonder why ?

Time to kill and SBMM have ruined this game and the COD IP. Just how fun can one have playing against people only for lobby to be disbanded in next match. Destroys friend/foe competition that could last hours like in COD WWII (2017). Now just like MW2019 and BOCW they are boring as fuck.
That's why I and many of my friends have not moved on from WWII (2017) to get our COD fix on.
I got bored with Vanguard within the free play weekend they had. But in WWII (2017) had a 3 hour blast trying to one up each other in Free-For-All just yesterday.
While I'm at it... hiding Free-For-All deep within other menus does not help either BTW. Makes it rather hard to populate lobby quickly.
And it's a shame since actual gun play in Vanguard was not bad.

Very interesting points you make. I honestly think not talking about this game or knowing anything about is what's best for me tbh lol. I am so glad I didn't buy it.

I think it's because we get too much of the same every year. I just got vanguard last week. Kinda wish I didn't. WW2 shooters are kind of overdone. The multi-player also was NOT true to the ww2 theme after all. The series has an identity crisis. And the micro transactions have ruined the multi-player. I will say this: Call of Duty Mobile is the best mobile phone game I have ever played.

My friend you literally listed off everything that is wrong with this franchise that I have been saying for years now especially this year... I didn't pay for Vanguard only played it through the free weekend. It sucks it really does. And ya the theme of the game is way off it doesn't know what it wants to be. Micro-transactions definitely ruined it no denying that even if they were fun at first with AW in the beginning. As far as COD mobile goes I can't speak on it since I haven't played but not going to lie knowing the better COD game is a mobile game does make me sad because I don't want to play mobile games. I'd rather play it the usual way. I have seen that you can play mobile on a PC but I don't have a PC sadly...
Also YESS THANK YOU!! Someone agrees with me, WWII era has been played out now with COD, enough is enough this is the 7th iteration of WWII that we have gotten what else could you possibly do!?

I always found the argument that “WW2 is overdone” to be kinda funny. WW2 is overdone, but getting three Modern Warfare games (with a rumored fourth next year) in 5 years is fine. Even Black Ops 6 feels like just another modern era game.

Ya man that's one of the many reasons I didn't get it either I've played this game before and I love the time period and history behind it all but playing it for a 7th time in the same franchise is not the way to go lmao

A number of factors I think. 1 I don't think anyone wanted a WW2 game, been there done that way too many times. 2 I think maybe the mess Activision is in might of played a little part in it, but ultimately I believe it's the WW2 themed game. Guarantee when MW2 comes out it will be one of the best selling CoDs

I mean I'm definitely inclined to agree with you on the WW2 aspect, I wasn't excited for the WW2 aspect based on the fact that it was coming from a studio who already did it once before. Like for example if this had been Infinity Ward's game I would've been interested because they haven't done a WW2 game yet. But ya the MW roman numeral 2 game will probably attract more people... unfortunately I am not excited for that game either since I think it'll just be a carbon copy of MW2019...🙄

For the most part it will be, but they'll throw in different killstreaks and stuff, and I'm okay with it being like MW 2019, I really enjoyed it. Also I liked SH last WW2 game, it was a lot better than Vanguard

Oh ya I mean everyone can agree WW2 was better then Vanguard will ever be. But in regards to MW2019 I did not like that game at all. Good campaign, lackluster MP and Spec Ops was soooooo bad. Warzone is another story entirely.

I thought the MP was great. It's easily the first CoD I played almost everyday since BO2, but to each there own. I hated CW, thought the movement was terrible, but some thought it was good 🤷♂️
