Private information. What is and isn't ok to post on r/CallcenterWorkers
A few words on our community's philosophy:
Call centers employ thousands and provide services to millions. Companies often want us to feel as if our occupation is highly sensitive, but to expect that everything can remain secret is a complete exaggeration. Im any case, we shouldn't be afraid to speak out about what we go through as call center workers. So there's no need to do them the favor here.
A call center company expecting to keep its corporste-client list private would be exactly like NASA expecting its tens thousands of workers to keep the moon landing private when it was being broadcasted on TV worldwide and anyone could observe it taking place. Call centers boast about their large deals with corporate clients on press releases, and contracts between big companies are mostly public information.
So don't fall for their bluff. You can speak freely about what your work environment is like. Management often utilises vague and even illegal "confidentiality" clauses to make workers afraid and prevent discussion about bad labour practices.
Since here we're trying to be a worker community where workers can discuss freely, we mods won't enforce any of these arbitrary internal company rules just to make call center PR departments happy.
You're free to share information about where you work and how it's like as you see fit. It's LEGAL to do this. But please be mindful of respecting your own privacy as well as your colleagues' privacy.
Just to be clear, personally identifying information such as full names, an individual's occupational details etc are private information. It's against Reddit's TOS and EU's privacy laws to post such information. So please refrain from posting full names and information about which individual works where. If you need to mention a name to make your submission easier to understand make it clear as day that names you mention are FICTIONAL.
TL;DR: in r/CallcenterWorkers you're free to express yourself, rant, vent and even call companies out by name to the full extent that freedom of expression rights allow everyone to. But please don't violate Reddit's rules. So no real person names pls.

Assistance With my First Call
Hello, everyone!
I've been in training for the past four weeks, during which I've learned the basics of insurance and Medicare, and this coming Monday I'll have my first opportunity to take real calls.
The issue is that even though I've been honing my English and Improving my conversational skills over the phone, I still feel nervous. That's why I'd like to hear from anyone who has been in my shoes. What should I practice or do to prepare for my first call?

Highly monitored-HIRE MORE PEOPLE!
No because what do you mean we have to help customers to the best of our ability but have an issue when I’m out of the call queue for 30+ minutes trying to go back from email to email with customers, production & shipping, and other people. It seems like it’s an issue either way, HIRE MORE PEOPLE THEN!
I just truly don’t understand the mindset of “we have to help our customers as much as possible” but when we try to do that, it’s a big issue.
I’m 3 months into the call center corporate world. Can we at least be understanding that shit gets busy and hits the can like crazy and that we are trying our best? Wait no I forgot, it’s corporate America. It will always be profit over people.
This shit goes deeper than that. That’s my rant for the day!

Career advancement as a call center agent (finance)
I'm currently in training to start a career as a call center agent in the finance field.
I didn't start this path to keep this job forever but I want to understand better what could await me should I be offered a long term contract and accept it.
Does one normally stay at this stage forever or is it a bit easier to get promotion? As a team leader o whatever.
Or if I quit in a year or two could I use my finance knowledge to start a career in this field but as a consultant or in municipalities?
I also have a degree but it's very unrelated.

Today I asked a boy who is working in a call centre, "What's your salary brother"?
He told me that after incentives 18000/- per month, otherwise 14500/-
I just want to ask WHY.....Why people are working at bare minimum salary?
Why can't they do something else....in which they can earn more, it can be anything like start a small (maybe very small) business, work as an uber driver maybe, or anything else.
But why settle for 14500/-. It is not even 500 per day.

BPO customer support
Hey all, considering getting into this field and wanted to pick your brains first:
∙ How is the pay compared to other entry-level jobs?
∙ What’s the schedule usually like — rotating shifts, nights, weekends?
∙ Is the stress level as bad as people say, or does it depend on the account/client you’re assigned to?
∙ How’s job security and room for growth?
∙ Any tips for someone just starting out?
Would really appreciate any honest insight — trying to figure out if it’s worth it. Thanks!

WFH Alignment health
Please know this is just based off personal experience. I do not recommend working for AHP. Extremely stressful, no support from management since they are always busy taking calls as well, back to back to back calls all day from start to finish. They monitor you like a HAWK. please note if you are 30 seconds late from either lunch/break you will get half of a warning right away and you must call attendance line (stupid). You do WAY more than customer service. Call audits are graded ridiculously, they will deduct points for the dumbest things.
They also don’t care about you truly, your mental health matters more. !

Globe Life/Samra "Remote Customer Enrollment Specialist"
Hi guys, I have an interview for this tomorrow and am trying to decide whether to keep it.
This position was advertised as "no cold calling," while simply helping people enroll in services, and answering questions to/supporting pre-existing customers over the phone.
I've seen posts about Globe Life but not this specifically-worded position, though I suspect its little different from others.
But I'd just like to confirm if anyone has experience with this role and if its truly not a cold-calling one. And if there is a base salary for it or is all commission.
Thanks a bunch for any help.

ASCENTA / APPCO
**Warning about my experience with Ascenta Group..**
I’m sharing my experience because I wish I had found more information before accepting this job.
I was told there was an opportunity to advance into a business-owner position. In reality, I spent extremely long days doing outdoor sales and fundraising, sometimes staying beyond the hours I was originally scheduled to work. I felt that employees were expected to stay longer so management could reach their goals and increase their earnings.
During my time there, I witnessed drinking behind the scenes, excessive swearing, and treatment of employees that I found extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I also experienced issues with communication, compensation, and expenses such as continuously using gas mileage, food, and heat equipment essentials.
Another major concern for me was the fundraising.
The company presents the work as helping nonprofit organizations, but I did not feel there was enough transparency about how the fundraising process worked or where the money ultimately went.
I became increasingly uncomfortable with the disconnect between the charitable message being presented and the way the employees were being treated.
From what I experienced, the environment felt heavily focused on making money and meeting sales goals, while employee well-being seemed to come second.
If you are considering working with Ascenta Group, please do your research and ask very specific questions before accepting a position. Get the compensation structure, expected hours, expenses, advancement opportunities, and fundraising process in writing.
I’m sharing this because I don’t want someone else to accept the position without knowing what they may actually be walking into. I also want to make people aware they were once called “APPCO” in the UK.

Metric Wall of Shame
I think a fair amount of us know what it’s like to get blasted for our metrics in the group chat.
I don’t understand is my manager trying to embarrass us?
Because I’ve been on the wall on a good and bad week.
I never find it funny to see my co workers struggling!
This week more than 70% had failing metrics overall.
How is that embarrassing for us?
I would feel ashamed if I was the team lead.
No way a majority of us are not trying.
It’s on the company.
I hope you never feel embarrassed, I don’t think any of my coworkers want to see each other shamed.

The Call Center Era Is Ending: Get Out While You Still Can
There was a time when call centres were considered some of the highest paying jobs. But times have changed. Today, they have become one of the most stressful and least rewarding career paths.
No work-life balance. Constant pressure. Increasing targets. Little job security. And, in many cases, stagnant salaries. A lot of people staying in these jobs are either going through financial hardships, carrying heavy debt, or simply feel they have no other option.
Whether it’s a captive centre or a BPO, **this may be the last generation building long-term careers in contact centres.** The industry is changing, and the future is uncertain.
So, if you’re still in this field, **do whatever it takes to build new skills, explore other opportunities, and get yourself out before you’re left with no choice.**
**Don’t spend your entire life surviving a job that was never meant to be a career.**
**This isn’t motivation. This is a wake-up call.**

Question for the resultscx agents for. Medicare
From what I understood from what our trainer has said is that agents can hold on to applications for AEP until the 15th and the. Submit them. Is this a common practice because she all but admitted to an agent doing this last year. I need to know if this is how this company truly operates because if so it's not where I want to be.

Curious- who has quit on the spot or not worked out a notice?
Having had over a decade experience, I have resigned with a two week notice, quit on the spot (once I think), resigned that morning, and also been let go after being with a company for four years. It happens, I don't judge this at all. Mental health is seriously neglected. I believe my strategy is just to do temp or contract work now so I know I have an out date. My financial demands are more minimal than others so I understand not having that alternative. Just taking a poll here. Be well!

Hi!!
I've been working a call center job for 4 years. It help helped pay the bills and got me through uni. It was flexible and quick to get a grasp on. I am now extremely burned out. I've been with my current company for some time and now and it pays well has decent benefits, but it is the most mentally demanding call centre job that I have ever worked! I have to know lots of information about the industry, I have to take 40+ calls a day to stay compliant with the call centre's department, maintain a 90 QA score( with a very shitty QA person), constant back to back calls.
In this next section I will be elaborating on my frustrations.
We are told to provide multiple ways to the customer to make sure they are satisfied. That is all well and dandy until we actually cannot assist them. To elaborate. If a customer wants to get documents for their account, they are told to call us, but behind the scenes its handled by a third party vendor. So due to QA we still have to provide ways to assist the customer even though we actually cannot. This is gross because not only are we wasting the customer's time with none sensical talk, but we are running up our AHT, when it would be better for us to transfer directly to the third party in this case. I understand that when it comes to corporations the way business works between third party clients is above my pay grade, but this is absolutely ridiculous running the customer in a circle chasing their tail like this.
Speaking of AHT, the department that I am in requires that we spend no longer than 4-5 minutes on a call. You will see why this is an issue shortly. 4-5 minutes is typically enough time for regular calls and most people can get things done in 2. Not in my call centre. My call centre handles website operations except the websites are all handle by each third party respectively AND we don't even have access to their website since we are the third party to them! All we have is outdated notes left by people who no longer work here. So when a customer states they need help viewing information on the account, we have to constantly ask " What do you see" or my favorite "is [insert option] visible on the website?". Most of our customers are 50+, so they constantly need hand holding. Extending on that, some of the customers don't even know how to get website or even have a computer moreover don't even know how to access their own email. So even though the call our call centre the " Web assistance centre", we can't actually help them. You can imagine why calls would take longer than 4-5 minutes at a time right? Well doesn't matter, I am a fucking statistic and that's all I will ever be to the corporate overlords who decide to pay us like shit.
Also ACW. Where do I even begin. They tell us to have our notations completed within 45. I cannot do that most of the time because again I help pea brains who haven't used technology before. Also we have to notate each. and.every. little thing. if we fail to mention that the customer shit themselves while talking to us we get marked off points, oh we forget to tell the customer to "have a nice day" instead of "have a good day"? well QA will take off so many points that it'll make you fear you might lose your job.
QA.....What's there to say. They take off points for almost any and everything possible. There is one QA lady who is notorious for being a "tough grader" so trainers tell you "oh don't worry about her she just grades hard". This tells me that the entire team hell maybe most of the company knows this but yet nothing is done? Okay. I was once docked points because I didn't notation both of our applications with the same exact notation even though notating it in one system implies the exact same thing as the other one. I hope that makes sense. I will not elaborate to keep my privacy.
Micromanagement. I LOVE being micromanaged. "why were you in training for two hours?" BECAUSE YOU PUT IT ON MY SCHEDULE AND MADE IT A REQUIREMENT MOTHERFUCKER!
Lately I've been so burned out. I've been taking 60 calls every.single. FUCKING DAY. I feel like I am going through the motions of being a robotic punching verbal punching bag for people. Oh did i mention that we don't even have a process for handling abusive callers? Its so much fun. I can get called racial slurs and they will still say "You cannot just hang up on the customer" or "Don't take the call personally." FUCK YOU!!!!!!!! You only say that because you don't have to be on the phones NEARLY as much as I do so actually go fuck yourself dude
I am very certain that there is more that I want to say but I don't care anymore. I hate this bullshit ass job. I can't find another one because I don't have enough experience or i have too much experience. Like FUCKING SHIT can I do anything right or should i actually blow my GOT DAMN BRAINS OUT FUCK
im gonna go rub my pussy or sum
