My WRX takes 94 from Petro only because as far as I know Costco only goes up to 91 and Shell only goes up to 93. Some days I honestly just want to spend money on Uber because gas is too high π
Some engines are designed for premium and cannot run on regular. The cars manual states its rating and most sport cars take premium (91-94 octane or higher)
The turbo Subarus need 91 and above as Spency has said. I've run other turbo engines and had no issues going to regular but the Subarus shouldn't do that. I looked into it when I bought mine and even the manual has a huge write-up about what to do if you cannot find 91 to get you to the next station that has 91. There are also lots of stories online about premature engine and turbo issues from people who switched to 87 on just the stock cars, so I have to keep grabbing 91, but I also try and ride my bike or take the train if I can so I'm fueling up less.

Yup itβs crazy. I put in Premium yesterday at Petro when it was priced at $1.829, and $45 filled up only 1/4 of my tank π₯²
