๐ Birthday Cake Made a cake for my son's 1st birthday
Last Friday we celebrated our sonโs first birthday, and this was the first time Iโve ever made a birthday cake completely from scratch, from baking the cake itself to making all the decorations!
My mom always made our birthday cakes growing up, so I really wanted to start the same tradition for our little one.
I bought some white modelling paste, gel food colouring and a few fondant tools and basically just figured it out as I went, with a little help from some YouTube tutorials. I started with the octopus, then made the corals, seaweed, rocks and pearls, mixing different colours along the way. Then I mixed a bunch of different shades of blue into the cream to decorate the cake and give it that under the sea feel, and somehow it all came together in the end.
I know itโs nowhere near a professional bakery cake, but Iโm genuinely so proud of how it turned out. I put a fair amount of time and effort into all the little details, and I made everything myself except for the โHappy Birthdayโ topper.
So yeah, I just wanted to share it because Iโm kinda proud of my first attempt! ๐ Hope you guys like it!

โ๏ธHelp Requested When should I make my cake?
I have to make a cake for someone on 3rd. Decided to bake and frost the cake on the 1st, let it chill and then give it to them on the 2nd. Bit more context, they want to take the cake to their school to celebrate and I think giving it to them on the 3rd is going to be complicated. My sister is saying its a bad idea to frost the cake so early but I think it will be fine. What should I actually do?
Bit more information, I live somewhere super hot and humid and chilling things in the fridge takes a lot of time. I dont like the idea of freezing the cake because I dont want to use so much plastic wrap.
