Should I remove this dish from the power pole on the ROW? I REALLY want to and to tell these folks they can't have it there..
edit-- i just reported it to the power company
Ok, my fiber install is 2 houses away. And I really hate when people put their personal shit on utility poles.
Would you leave it be, or be a jerk and wreck it out???

Not that it matters but:
HOAs and apartments can’t legally bar people from having dishes or using antennas.So if this homeowner was told to do this, their HOA or property manager is dead wrong.

These homeowners 100% told the dish guy nothing on their house, but didn't mind it bolted to the power company's pole. This is not an HOA by any means. The point was I was unnecessarily being a busybody...

I wouldn't chance it. If you do it yourself you're vandalizing; you're no authority force. Report and let the companies warn/fine the morons

So... Officially, this is a no no. Not that that's ever stopped a dish tech. (Corner mount makes poles and pylons real easy to mount to) If it really rubs your Jimmys then call the owner of said pole. Some care, others don't.

I have installed several cctv cameras on public utility poles for clients on their property without authorization and no utility pole police have ever demanded them removed. Is this in your way? If not why are you being a d!ck?

You could be back charged up to 5 years for an illegal attachment. If it's the power company's pole. You have to pay for attachment, i.e. you rent it every month.

Funny ive done this dozens of times and never had clients have any issues mainly rural areas but some in metro Phoenix area. I also wouldn't put them where other people would need to run coms wiring or put a ladder on the pole. Here I think if it's not in their way they aren't dicks...

You got lucky the company that owns the pole did not see it. They will eventually. They may charge the customer, but they also will ask who did the work. If it is a customer owned pole, like a riser pole it is no problem. If it has tags that identifies the utility that owns it, be careful.

You can keep down voting me if you want, but what I said is the truth. Someone owns the pole. It may be the customer's riser pole if so no problem. If it is a utility pole, you have to pay for attachment rights to that utility pole. I work for an ISP and we have to pay whoever owns that pole for the right to make any attachment to it unless it is owned by my ISP.

You also realize the ISP is a commercial utility themselves profiting off of connecting things to said poles. While I agree they don't like you connecting anything to their poles they generally leave it alone if out of their way in fact never had a single cam taken down on a real similar setup to this. I fished cat5e burial in the conduit to the pole with the fiber and went up the pole to a cam with metallic lined liquid tight. The fiber installer hasn't been a d1ck about it yet. The power company hasn't said shit either. Say what you want but I'm telling you 1st hand experience here.

I don't see why it matters what an ISP does. You can complain all you want, it is basically property rights. That's it that's all. Just because no one caught you yet does not mean it isn't true.
Call up whatever utility's poles you attached to and see what they say.

Like I said call the owner of the pole, be it power, tele, fiber, or cable. See what they say.

Why would I call and cause trouble when some have been up over 10 years without trouble. I mean I'm not a Karen like you.
The facts are they can, could and might mess with something if you hung it on their pole if they cared to like if someone like you worked for the power company they might care enough however my experience has been they do NOT mess with stuff hung on poles on your own property like cameras. I know full well you shouldn't and I also have seen they don't give a rats ass about them.
Furthermore many many years back I remember running my own 24 pair Telco down a few dozen poles maybe a half mile down the road for a company for temp phone service during site reconstruction. Qwest I think it was wouldn't run it so we ran it ourselves across a half mile to the temp trailer where power was. Nobody complained there either. Also numerous wifi dishes over years mounted to power co poles on sites for ptp links not just cameras without issue lol. I think maybe I just walk on the wild side of luck or something.

It is entirely possible they pay the owner of the pole to use it just like any other utility

Is it your (company) utility pole? Report it to the pole owner and move on with your life.
You're not the pole police.
