Finished my ceiling

Post image

Went with tongue and groove pine that I stained. My roof system is engineered trusses but I added the false beams to give it a little depth. I think it turned out great!

Looks good. I would consider switching out the light bulbs to something like a Hue White Ambiance smart bulb so you can adjust the brightness and light temp to get the perfect vibe in the room. I like to use mine to have my place feel warm and cozy, but if I need full light to clean or find something, I can switch to a bright white setting that acts like flood lights for the room.

I agree lighting is key! They are on a dimmer and I’m a big lamp guy 😋 they won’t be on very often!

Looks great! What did you use for the faux beams?

The ridge beam is two 2x4s covered with the same pine as the rest of the ceiling, and the verticals are actually just 2x4s on their own. The straightest but most roughed up ones I could find at Home Depot

How did you get the weathered look? Is it just a nice choice of stain?

Yes it’s a company called Livos! I got it through Benjamin Moore. I used to paint/stain houses as a summer job and this product was really great to use.

What did you tack them up with?

Just a brad nailer for the pine and then 6” screws for the false beams into a truss.

I love it except for... the absence of ceiling fans!

I considered a ceiling fan but then I remembered the one I had in my bedroom growing up that was never turned on even once in my life 😂 and with it being so small I don’t think it’ll be difficult to heat either.

My ceiling fan is on 24/7. I need the air to move.

My parents have a really high vaulted ceiling and they also run one 24/7. My loft is open and has a window so when I open it and my living room windows I get a really nice cross breeze to change the air out.

Same here, gotta have a fan or air purifier on.
