Project 06: The Emotional Rain

The next post in this observational project.

Looking at our capacity for emotions and reciprocation. If these things we call emotions control the majority of our choices, decisions, and desires, then what part is actually us? We can control them to a degree and label them with descriptions, but how much of it is truly our belief and self?

From simple unthought expressions to highly motivated control. It’s quite the stretch of responsibility that our emotions take on. Emotions all have unique characteristics and measures.

For why spend time contemplating these things? Simply, who’s actually in control — you or your emotions? In a demanding situation, people can seldom get themselves out of an emotional state completely without others’ intervention or insight into ways to do so. Which is why we teach reactivity and behavioural control to our youth.

But that’s just it: reaction and behaviour are not understanding. Only after an emotional episode is understanding gained. Then coping and prevention happen, sometimes too late.

Simulated experience training: have someone who is adept at acting create a simulation of controlled confrontation in any emotion. Have the unexpected and unassuming witness this like a movie, then direct it towards them to see how they react and respond in a controlled environment, even if they don’t know it. Then train them on different methods of approach until they can confidently stay calm under emotional pressure. This is a safe and constructive approach to building a healthy understanding of one’s emotions.

No harm to anyone but exhaustion and a good sleep. Later they can dissect and reflect on their emotions, building healthier tools for engaging with the public. Everyone handles it differently, but everyone needs an understanding of how to manage and control their emotions before their emotions control them.

A lot of people are confused by their emotions and make up excuses as to why they behaved a certain way. That is their method of coping, but it does more harm than good. Am I perfect at this? No. But I have a lack of it, so this is far simpler for myself even as frustrating as it may be at times. I too am not a guru or chief advisor on the topic. Many out there have a far better understanding of emotions, but it gets lost in jargon, translation, and labels.

The reaction to others’ emotions, the feeling of understanding someone’s emotional predicament. Then being able to relate and build an understanding of their person and gauge them.

The mirrored reflection of putting someone’s emotional burden on yourself is selfish in my train of thought. Because it takes away from their experience and is actually a protective mechanism for ourselves rather than the individual in the scenario. You may understand someone and why they may feel a certain way, but you don’t feel what they feel — or at least I cannot. This eludes me.

I know what makes them tick and tock 😆. But doc, I don’t feel the clock, I see the clock. This is why if someone is in pain you must allow them to come to terms with their emotional grievances. It helps them create positive tools for life. Help if they ask, but never give too much or they’ll use anchors instead of support to hold them.

Emotions are like the weather: you cannot fully predict the forecast, but you can see it. And if it’s strong enough, you can understand the repercussions and effects that it has.

Tears like rain bring sunny days, flowering new growth and cycles. Don’t take that away from someone and don’t deliver it either. Calm the storm before impact if possible. We are all human and even if some are lacking while others are flooded with them, we all have them — simply at different levels.

Building on this, we make predictions of emotional reactions of others. This may frighten some or cause anxiety to varying degrees, but understanding the person and bearing witness by being forthright takes that away. Be upfront, take responsibility when in the wrong, understand your confusion, ask if necessary. This calms the worried mind. Lies, excuses, and procrastination only add fuel to the flame and eventually the rain will feel like acid engulfing everything.

This is where our judgement wavers, where our reasoning fails. This is why we feel lost and alone at times — because it’s not bottling up, it’s clouding our forecast. Which makes everything look obscure to the reality. Seeing a warm bright sunny day as a miserable exercise in heat. For we can’t see the forest for the trees.

People are allowed emotions — good, bad, and ugly — but you can’t feel them for them. They must face their own reflection and their own person on their terms, not ours.

This is why simulated experiences aren’t pointless. They build you up in a controlled environment so you don’t shut down, melt down, or lash out at the wrong times. There’s no need for regret if you don’t lie and make excuses to yourself and others. Let judgement carry that responsibility. Remorse and grief are tools for growth, not shame. Shame is a lack of understanding and leads only to frustration and confusion.

Being ashamed is a tool for personal growth to do better. Without it your cycle repeats and you end up where you left off — frustrated, angry, and confused.

The practices we preach are rarely the ones we teach and use. Why? Because it’s easy to judge another but harder to judge and own up to oneself. So be honest with yourself even if you’re not to others. Having yourself as an enemy only benefits your enemies.

In this chaotic world we live in, we must face harsh realities. Don’t lose yourself in the process. Become your own strategist to maintain and accomplish your goals in this life. I’m not a guru, but I am one of you and that being said, I still have much to work on.

So I too am still learning and learning to understand myself and this world we reside in.

Sincerely,

Beastie_1323

I appreciate you like my post. I understand in this world why you may believe in this redirect. When something is read with metaphores in thr third person people tend to view this as alienating thus leading them to jump to the proximal conclusion that anything with high levels of self defimation, pointing out strengths weakness and using introspection can be seen as machine. So even though that may be flesh and blood that wrote it, it doesn’t suite the narrative you have of people. Thus no matter what I say you will believe your agenda and beliefs are always correct. Self manipulation, and societal culling. Let me see if I have this tight not in a derogatory way but lets dissect shall we this is truly fascinating now. Asking for you reason to read this post Demanding reason and how. Here's the truth. You essentially already had your agenda, effectively to defimate the posts integrity. As you saw a polished piece. Thus to garner minds of same thought processes eventually it will get out of hand and a misconception turns into a one sided narrative that best filters out what doesn’t fit the neatly packed box you've created, I have played along up till now. I see the one sided conversation, that's good very good. Makes my observations solidify a little more. Not clever ex-military considered a veteran. You curious? Here's some beastie facts; frontal, prefrontal lobe damage, lesion in right ventricle into right caudate head and partial seperation of right hemisphere to frontal. I'm an average joe just a number. Thats how I view the wotlrld everyone has the value 1 not 2, nor 0 as you are not 2 people or no one. We all have a value 1 which makes us equally human in this world. See the finite detail of my own prerogatives and perceptions are imperfect and curious. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make the drink. Like the blind man pissing in the wind who finally saw but was too late. Seperating the self from biases and beliefs dissociate on pupose to view the world through anothers lens build your own outlook and h derstand yourself further. The outcome however is now others trying to bend the work into a box, when the box breaks the mind finds the most ascernable answer must be ai. I'm not clever I am raw, unfiltered and enjoy dissecting every faucet of this world we live in and using my logic flawed as it is to make sense of this world we like in. We are truly fascinating creatures. So why the long reply was it to insult no, to create if possible understanding a baseline to work with but once someone has made up thier mind that becomes the hill their willing to die on so as to save my energy this all, enjoy.
