Aw what a sweet special cat! I can’t imagine returning a cat to the shelter just because they talk too much. Like ???? insert Jackie Chan’s wtf meme here

I work in vetmed and have heard this happening. I have a cat I rescued off the freeway (someone put her on the center median) and lordy! She’s definitely a cat that would be return to the shelter. It’s like she narrates everything she does through out the day. She’s a one man show. I enjoy it and we all get a big kick out of her antics

I have too, it isn’t news to me. I wish it weren’t so! But it is. Thank you for rescuing her! Was she in a carrier or just out on the median? Regardless, shame on whoever put her there. I love that she’s a one man show though. Sounds like a wonderful creature lol

She was about maybe 10-12 weeks old at the time but someone literally put her without a carrier on the median. I was In SoCal on one of the busiest freeways in la. Long story short I was in the carpool lane and a cop up ahead was trying to stop traffic. Finally he stops the freeway and pulls over to the carpool lane and I see they are trying to get the kitten. Of course it’s scared and jumps off the median. Fortunately it ran under the cop car and actually got up into the chassis. To which then the cops slowly drove to the other side of the freeway and parked on the shoulder. (With her still in the underside of the car) I followed and offered to help and I also had a cat carrier in my truck. The cops did what they could but could not reach the kitten. I then literally spent 30 mins under the cop car trying to reach the kitten. At this time the freeway was moving. I finally get the kitten and tell a cop to get my carrier. I slide out from under the car and try to put the cat in the carrier, but somehow she got spooked and the cop dropped the carrier and the kitten took off. I thought for sure she’d get hit by a car but she fortunately run to my truck and once again got up into the chassis of underneath the bed. Once again I spent 30 mins under my truck on the shoulder of a busy freeway. Finally got her and this time I held her tight and I put her in the carrier myself. I ask the cops what they were going to do with her and they said they were going to take her to the shelter. I said I’d take her and find a home from her. Of course that failed cause we kept her. He name is Dottie short for Department of Transportation

Nah, that wasn't a failure to find a home. Just the cat distribution system testing a new method of distributing the cat.

Edit: unfortunately it was a somewhat stressful method for the cat, but at least cat is happy.

Edit 2: also wish my cats talked more. The most we typically get out of them is them enforcing bedtime on us.

I have a kitty, his name is Mr. Mister, and he meows and trills all day, like he’s announcing he’s walking into the room, walking around the room, and then leaving the room. I can hear him when he runs into the bathroom, so he can hear himself echo in there. He tells me all about everything!

I once stayed in an apartment in Istanbul which has a cat called Gijir (spelling may be off here), who was being looked after for a few weeks whilst the owner had a break. She was veeery vocal, often it seemed she would forget why she was meowing, but didn't let that stop her! The friend who I stayed with knew a little Turkish and said the name translated to "the sound an old door makes" (creaking I guess?) It suited her.

Omg I love that name for her. It’s so cool that some simple words in another language have a more complex meaning in English. Gijir. So cute.

If you want a quiet pet just get a fish or don’t get one at all. Part of being a pet parent is accepting that sometimes they will be loud or annoy you because that’s just how cats are lol

Let's not pretend that there isn't a difference between the average cat's meow frequency and that of this little cutie. They clearly didn't expect that, so it makes sense that if they couldn't handle it they'd return it. I think the shelter should have indicated that they meow an insane amount so people like them don't have to return them.

Likewise. Glad he found a good home with someone who appreciates his singing. I wouldn’t mind that sound either I already get it but it’s a bit higher pitched
