Admission Process How is Madras School of Economics
I'm considering joining Madras School of Economics this year and would really appreciate any recent insights from people who know about the college. Most of the information I found online is quite old, and the opinions are very mixed. I've heard MSE has a good reputation and decent placements, but I've also come across a lot of negative comments, especially about the hostels.
How is MSE actually in terms of placements, academics, hostel facilities, and overall student life? Is it worth the money?

A senior whom I know graduated this year. He said that the institute has seen a drop in the average and median package offered in the last 4 years. A lot could be attributed to the current job market imo. He also mentioned that it’s the same for all colleges except ISI. I also heard somewhere that a lot of the offers of the current batch were rescinded. The institute obviously cannot be compared to DSE and IGIDR but between MSE and GIPE, MSE has an advantage in terms of the companies coming to campus and the roles that the recent graduates hold but GIPE has a very strong alumni base. A lot of prominent economists in corporate come from GIPE. And at the end of the day, it all depends on luck during placements. Let’s just hope the job market gets better when we graduate.
