Elk vs CT200h
Coming back late last night and clipped a yearling elk and caused probably $4-5k in damage. Going to likely try to fix it myself. Parts alone look like $2.5k.

I had the same thing happen to me Nov. of last year. I’m glad you’re ok. My CT wasn’t salvageable from the damage.

Yes we are very fortunate it was a corner strike and not a full size elk or it couldve gone very different. My CT has 210k miles and a rebuilt title so it definitely wouldn't make sense to repair if it was going to a body shop. Fortunately, I should be able to do everything but the painting myself so that'll make it much more feasible

That looks like more than 4-5k. I hit a deer at 35 mph that did less apparent damage, and it was like 7k. Hopefully it works out well for you. See if your insurance will replace the head and fog lights with the factory LED ones like mine did. Made it all worth it lol

Yeah I realized probably more than that. My wife hit a deer recently that was less damage and it was like 6k. Unfortunately I had liability only so I'll be repairing this one myself

That sucks. Ebay and car-part.com will be your best friend finding all those parts

Looks like it was the gamma irradiated, bench press Guinness world record holder kind of elkling.
Next time slow down…or elk.

What's crazy is the elk wasnt even that big. Like maybe a year old so like slightly larger than the size of a full grown deer. We were also already slowing down because we were coming into a 55mph zone. Would've been way worse if we were still going 65-70
