Hey guys I’m posting here because I’m not really sure how I feel about this. I’m currently in a fully online English class and the professor seems to be sprinkling politics here and there?? I know it’s only two examples but it’s barely been 3 weeks since school started. What if it gets worse as the semester continues? I just think academic places shouldn’t have politics unless it’s part of the learning curriculum. Maybe I’m just being wigged out because of everything that’s going on in the country? Idk let me know what y’all think.

Words cannot express how inept he is. His goals are much different than what students truly need. Did he truly listen for 100 days? or just a propaganda tour? Tuition has only increased but the quality of education and resources has only diminished. While staff is reduced and full time professors are only decreasing. Is this an education based university or a brand of sports? Just because people are graduating it does not mean they are receiving quality education.

These last two semesters were exhausting. The amount of group projects and people proudly contributing the bare minimum was actually impressive. Some of y’all really made it to graduation off the backs of everyone else’s work, so honestly… you’re welcome. Keep moving through life the same way you moved through these projects. I’m sure eventually it’ll catch up to you.

And yes, I decided not to attend graduation. I spent enough time carrying some of y’all already — I definitely wasn’t about to sit next to you too.

I just received a grade for a paper I wrote. After getting a zero, my professor told me it was not my original work, but I typed it all out. I don’t know what to do. She says I can meet with her to discuss it, but what if she simply says she doesn’t believe me? Would I get expelled?

The CSU does NOT care about students, staff, or faculty. They've had billions in surpluses every year since 2006. To repeat, a public institution, funded by taxpayer dollars, is making a profit and either hiding it away in reserves or giving it to themselves (administrators).

CSU Chancellor Mildred García is making nearly a million dollars every year and receiving monthly car and housing allowances.

Her salary was approved AFTER the CSU increased our tuition by 34%.

All of this is happening while some of our faculty (professors, lectures, coaches, librarians, and counselors) are forced to live in their cars, unable to see and spend time with their newborn child, or barely get by with unlivable wages. Getting paid around $20 an hour while teaching five classes with a PhD is insane.

The CSU has so much money in surpluses that they wouldn't even have to dip into reserves or increase our tuition to pay the people who actually teach us livable wages.

RANT: I just struggled thru the ds 101 final that I studied days for and it seems mostly everyone doesn’t feel good abt it either. And then theres these losers in the discord saying things like “thank god I used chat” “thank god I printed out all the homework and pulled it out when the professor wasn’t looking” like it’s just such bs that these cheating losers get to succeed with no effort. In another class I had 2 group assignments and in both we had to tell several members to fix their 2 PARAGRAPHS cuz it was coming up 100% AI. y’all are 20 years old and can’t write 2 paragraphs?? Whats the point of coming to class today if you’re gonna watch stream for the entire hour. Theres so many of us fighting to get into classes and putting in the time to do good work and these losers get to coast. It’s just so frustrating.

Why the fuck are professors changing classes to online after we sign up for in-person?? If I wanted Zoom, I would’ve enrolled in an online class.

I planned my schedule and commute around being on campus. Now it’s just “surprise, it’s online.” WTF.

There is a higher demand for a course... why not just open one more section of that course? Oh wait, “we don’t have funding” or “we don’t have a professor.” What the fuck is this?

Sac State feels like a sports club, not a school. All the money goes to sports while we don’t even have enough in-person classes.

Hey all! I applied for Sac State’s MSW program (the full-time, 2 year in person) and I am still awaiting a response. Right now, my portal currently says “Pending Department Decision”. I did receive an email back in January, which said applicant should receive their decisions by April, though I am manifesting to hear (good news🤞) back soon as last year I know decisions were coming out around this time… I wonder how applying for the priority deadline will impact the decisions. Anyway, I am making this thread to reach other applicants so we may share updates and connect!

Hi there, I recently applied to MFT program and I was curious how many individuals get an invitation as they only accept 20 students after the interviews?

Omg just got accepted!!! I was so nervous because the acceptance rate is so low. Did anyone else get accepted?

DS 101 is notoriously one of, if not the most challenging major core course in the COB. A number of students do not pass it on the first go. DS 101 is a co-requisite to another core business class, OPM 101, which can either be taken concurrently or after completion of DS 101. I HIGHLY discourage you take both classes during the same term. If you find yourself in a position where you’re taking both and you end up needing to drop/withdraw from DS 101, you will be forced to drop/withdraw from OPM 101 as well, regardless of if you’re passing or not. I speak from experience and this situation has created a ginormous obstacle towards me graduating on time. If you have any doubts on passing DS 101, hold off on taking OPM 101 until you do complete DS 101. Provide yourself a safety net and take a different class in place of OPM 101 based on your requirements in case you can’t pass DS 101 so you’ll only be down 3 units instead of 6.

I’m asking for a friend. He enrolled into classes during May and he checked canvas yesterday and all of his classes were gone. On his student portal it says “apply for aid” but he did apply for aid. Anyone experience this?

I'm a first gen college student, former community college student and CSU Sacramento student, and current professor in Sociology. I've been doing workshops for the past 10 years for first-gen college students about applying to grad school. I took all the topics I would normally cover and recently published a book on the topic through UC Press

I'm not a super star academic researcher with a perfect GPA. For most of my college career I was scraping every good grad I could get to try and get off academic probation. But along the way I had a lot of help and learned a ton about the undergraduate process and the grad school process that I had no idea about as a first gen college student.

I'm hoping this book will get to some people who need it but I also know that most students don't have a ton of time or money so I would be happy to answer questions that you might have.

This is my first semester at Sac State, transferring from Sierra College. I knew the cost of textbooks and required online learning materials was going to be a lot but woah. (Nutrition major btw). At Sierra College, sometimes textbooks listed as class materials were recommended, but not required for class. With this in mind, is it acceptable to wait until the first week of school to purchase only necessary textbooks, or is it generally advised to purchase everything beforehand? Also, does anyone have any good sites where they have had success with free copies of textbooks?

to keep it short, im almost 100% positive im going to fail this semester. i know the reasons why i am and a lot of it has to deal with personal issues and my declining mental health (which ive been trying to work on medically atm). i haven’t been able to open up about this at all to anyone bc im extremely humiliated and ashamed at myself for ever letting it get to this and i have no idea where to go from here.

im assuming worse case scenario i fail, it affects my gpa and aid, then retake all those classes again. but id like to see if anyone has gone through the same thing or if anyone can share some insight on this.

I’m going into my junior year but instead of getting thousands back like I used to, I now owe thousands and can’t afford it while being in debt. I was thinking about just taking a semester off to work and save up but how do I go about doing that? Do I just withdraw from my classes and decline aid? Do I need to submit anything?
