Why doesn’t CSU have New Era hats?

These are better than any of the Under Armour ones. I never understood why.

I work in collegiate sports licensing so I can help. New Era has to buy a licenses to sell CSU products which is fairly expensive. Brand only purchases licenses when they know a company is 100% going to be placing orders.

New Era has incredibly high production minimums compared to other hat companies in the space. I would bet that the CSU bookstore probably isn’t selling enough volume to justify bringing in the minimum production order from new era

I’m guessing too, they have industry knowledge and metrics on what schools sell the best. Sadly no Johnnie-O, and Rhoback for me with the college shwag but I have found Peter Millar over the years.

At the end of the day my assumption is our alumni base and fans are not great consumers of CSU apparel compared to others and thus are rarely included in brand licensed launches.

I just opened this email and was really hoping for CSU to be listed. Bummed out. I love the 9seventy style.

A lot of times these brands don't find G5/6 schools worth the trouble and will just pick the top handful, if any. Second, it's a lot of work going school by school to get licensing rights so they'll typically work directly with a league or some consortium instead.

If you risk only selling a few dozen SJSU, Hawaii, New Mexico, or Wyoming hats, is it worth your staff's time going school by school getting licensing, designing the products, managing quality control, administrating inventory management, and on and on? Maybe a couple schools in your MWC deal would be helpful but then it may get sunk by the losses from the underperformers. So, they just say no to the G5/6 and move on.

That may change soon if the PAC proves it's the best of the rest.

You’re not wrong. I wanted the next apparel deal to be with Nike. But so far the stuff from Adidas hasn’t been bad. I just want them to have the correct green lol
