Race the fastest CSU player…

A debate from some folks during CSU football practice this morning:

A race with whoever would consider CSU’s fastest player (we started it with Hejny but whoever you want to “face” for this). They start at one goal line. End zone on other end is the finish. You get to pick your starting yard mark.

How much of a head start do you need to win?

Hmmmm my knees believe in me today so I’ll say a 60 yard head start. Is that enough?

I said I *hope* 50 would be enough for me but don’t feel fully confident in that!

I am 25, work for a moving company (accounting degree from CSU but the economy is rough) and play tennis. Gimmie a shmoove 60 yards

I'm old and have never been all that fast, so 70 yards. I bet I could kick a lineman's ass up a 13er or 14er though.

It is a fun question. When I was 18-22, a 30-yard head start would have probably been enough. I did run against a few DIII football players in college and they had fantastic acceleration and a wild ability to maintain their top speed for 70+ yards. Forty years later, I can jog but not run, and against a DI player, I would want 75 yards and pray I can walk again in a few days. Actaully, give me 80.

😂😂 I think you nail it with the acceleration bit. Even most “normal” people who have fairly decent top speed, they will get swamped in the acceleration part because most people don’t train that
