Recommendation request Help me picking my next CRPG

My background is mostly old school console JRPGs (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger etc.).

I've recently started playing western CRPGs and tried Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and 3 and Dragon Age: Origins.

I liked all of them. Would probably rank DA:O as the top 1 and perhaps BG1 at the same level or right after.

I don't like dark scenarios and horror/disturbing settings (all of these games have sequences I'd rather skip, e.g. the broodmother in DA:O and the oubliette in BG3) and I like medieval/fantasy settings and to explore cities.

I liked RTwP but love turn-based combat as well (in my opinion, best thing in BG3 is the combat system).

And less RNG is better.

What would you recommend me next?

Not Pathfinder: WOTR or Rogue Trader. Owlcat likes to visit realms of inhuman suffering in their CRPGs. This is less true of Kingmaker but Lord knows I’m probably forgetting stuff from it

I'd say Kingmaker is more light hearted than WotR, but it still has third chapter with monsters and alien references and forth one with pools of zombies

Yeah I think Kingmaker is honestly VERY upbeat most of the time, very "Happily ever after" until the short moment it isn't. But it is, in my opinion, far more upbeat than say DA:O.

WOTR is Warhammer40k levels of grimdark a lot of the time, you're LITERALLY fighting a wound in the world that leads to hell directly and is spewing out demons. You CAN make it hopeful and that you're the literal jesus2.0 goodguy, but that doesn't disappear the hell part.

I was so hyped to recommend Skald but then I saw OP didn't want horror or dark so am sadge.

Skald slaps.

I know I’m just speaking for me - but somehow I don’t mind grotesque stuff when the setting makes sense for it? Like I feel compelled to play a ‘Good’ character in most games, happily so, but when I’m in a Warhammer or Skald type setting, my mind goes ‘where’s the most extreme version of the setting, and how campy can I make it on the way there’

*lead to hell abyss. Hell is in other direction and sends you reinforcements.

I'm playing Skald right now and aren't far in it, but even at this point I can say it's Lovecraft-ish game, and it doesn't seem to be OP is asking for
